Breast Cancer after Radiation Therapy in a Patient with Li-Fraumeni Syndrome: A Case Report

open access: yes대한영상의학회지, 2022
Li-Fraumeni syndrome (LFS) is an inherited autosomal-dominant tumor-predisposition disorder caused by germline mutations in the TP53 tumor suppressor gene.

The ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy as guardians of the cellular proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This Perspective covers the three principles governing the crosstalk between the ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy in cellular proteostasis: (1) a shared ubiquitin code routing substrates via shuttle factors or autophagy receptors; (2) spatial compartmentalization into phase‐separated degradation hubs and organelle‐specific modules (exemplified

Second primary tumors after prostate carcinoma

open access: yes, 1999
BACKGROUND, Several large datasets have shown a reduced risk of all neoplasms after a diagnosis of prostate carcinoma but an increased incidence rate of urologic carcinoma has been suggested. METHODS.

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Second Malignant Neoplasms Following the Treatment of Brain Tumors in Children

open access: yes, 2006
We investigated retrospectively 992 children with central nervous system tumors who were treated at our center between 1970 and 2004. All of the patients were treated by surgery, chemotherapy, and/or radiotherapy. Six patients developed second malignant

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

The etiology of second primary neoplasms.

open access: yesIn vivo (Athens, Greece), 1998
Neoplasms are derived from normal tissues of the body by cellular transformation. Tumors often represent a less differentiated or an undifferentiated version of the histology of the neoplasms original tissue. Primary tumor(s) may spread by direct extension or by metastasis.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Second malignant neoplasms after treatment for osteosarcoma: a report of three cases.

open access: yes, 1993
We report second malignant neoplasms which developed between 7 and 19 years after treatment in 3 pediatric patients with osteosarcoma. Two patients had been treated with only surgery, and another patient had been treated with a combination of surgery ...
