In Modular Multilevel Converter (MMC), submodule capacitor value determines the overall cost, size, and weight of the converter. Minimizing the submodule capacitance value without increase in the voltage ripple is a challenge. Injecting the Second Harmonic line frequency component in Circulating Current(SHCC) is a well-explored idea to reduce the ...

Classical and strongly classical \(n\)-absorbing second submodules
2022Summary: Let \(R\) be a commutative ring with identity and \(M\) be an \(R\)-module. The main purpose of this paper is to introduce and investigate the notion of classical and strongly classical \(n\)-absorbing second submodules as a dual notion of classical \(n\)-absorbing submodules. We obtain some basic properties of these classes of modules.

Analysis of Submodule Capacitor Voltage Ripple and Second-Harmonic Current in MMCs
2019 20th Workshop on Control and Modeling for Power Electronics (COMPEL), 2019This paper presents a straightforward approach to analyze the 2nd harmonic currents in modular multilevel converters. The submodule capacitor voltage ripple is derived based upon the capacitor’s charge variations instead of commonly used energy variations, resulting in simplified calculations and an explicit expression for the voltage ripple to ...

On (n ? 1, n)-?-second submodules
2023Let R be a commutative ring with identity, M be an R-module, n ? 2 be a positive integer and ?: S(M) ?? S(M) be a function where S(M) is the set of all submodules of M. In this paper we introduce and study the concept of (n ? 1, n)-?-second submodule. We call a non-zero submodule N of M as an (n ? 1, n)-?-second submodule if (a1 …an?1)N ? K and (a1 …an?

2-absorbing \(I\)-prime and 2-absorbing \(I\)-second submodules
2019Summary: Let \(R\) be a commutative ring and let \(I\) be an ideal of \(R\). In this paper, we will introduce the notions of 2-absorbing \(I\)-prime and 2-absorbing \(I\)-second submodules of an \(R\)-module \(M\) as a generalization of 2-absorbing and strongly 2-absorbing second submodules of \(M\) and explore some basic properties of these classes of

SummaryThe modular‐multilevel converter (MMC) faces the problem of second order ripples in the sub‐module DC capacitor voltage during the low frequency operation at the load side. To sort out this problem, this paper demonstrates a three‐phase modified MMC that includes a novel circuit placed between upper and lower arms of each phase, where load is ...
