EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Case report of squamous cell carcinoma secondary to recurrent anal fistula

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology
Anal fistula is a common benign perianal condition, and its malignant transformation, particularly into squamous cell carcinoma, is rare and often associated with comorbidities such as Crohn’s disease and HIV infection. This article reports the case of a

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Relapsed or refractory central nervous system lymphoma successfully treated by glofitamab combined with lenalidomide

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology
BackgroundCentral nervous system lymphoma (CNSL) is rare and aggressive, which has high rates of recurrence and fatality. At present, there does not exist any standard treatment for the relapsed/refractory (R/R) CNSL.MethodsWe retrospectively analyzed 4 ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Case Report: A simple case of drug-induced secondary antibody deficiency or a rare primary immune deficiency?

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
Antibody deficiency may be primary, because of an underlying inborn error of immunity, or secondary, due to another disease process or medication, leading to decreased antibody production or increased antibody loss.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.
