The Effectiveness of Positive Psychotherapy on Improving Psychological Adjustment of the Students with Suicidal Ideation: With an Emphasis on Religious Teachings

open access: yesمسائل کاربردی تعلیم و تربیت اسلامی, 2020
Adolescence, one of the most critical periods of development, leads to various stressors. Incompatibility with this period may cause injuries such as suicidal ideation.

The G-protein Coupled Receptor GPR8 Regulates Secondary Metabolism in Trichoderma reesei

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, 2020
Changing environmental conditions are of utmost importance for regulation of secondary metabolism in fungi. Different environmental cues including the carbon source, light and the presence of a mating partner can lead to altered production of compounds ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Primary-Secondary School Transition: Impacts and Opportunities for Adjustment

open access: yes, 2021
The transition from primary to secondary education is an important period in children’s lives: academically, socially and emotionally, and can be particularly challenging for some children. Occurring alongside puberty and a change in focus from parents to peer relationships, the transition can be a difficult adjustment for some to navigate.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Impact of beta-lactam antibiotic renal dose adjustment on clinical outcomes in patients with septic shock and acute kidney injury from gram-negative bloodstream infections: a multicenter observational study

open access: yesCMI Communications
Objective: Beta-lactam antibiotics are the backbone of therapy for critically ill patients with sepsis; however, these patients experience pharmacokinetic changes that alter beta-lactam exposure.
