Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

Near‐Field Electrospinning Micro‐Printhead Achieves Precise Control of Nanofiber Deposition
A micro‐printhead for near‐field electrospinning enables reproducible deposition of polymer nanofibers with diameters below 50 nm. Systematic parameter studies uncover the mechanisms linking operating conditions to fiber morphology, paving the way for precise and low‐cost nanoscale 3D manufacturing. As a high‐resolution, cost‐effective, and rapid ...

Powder Optimization Strategies for Binder Jetting Printing of BaTiO3 and Ba0,6Sr0,4TiO3 Ceramics
Powder optimization is investigated to enable binder jetting of BaTiO3 and Ba0.6Sr0.4TiO3 ferroelectric ceramics. The antagonistic relationship between flowability and binder compatibility is addressed through binder impregnation of granulated powders and fumed silica addition to fine powders.

Implicit Heterogeneous 1D/2D Coupling for Aero-Thermo-Mechanical Simulation of Secondary Air Systems
The paper presents a computational procedure for heterogeneous coupled analysis of 1D flow network models of air engine secondary air systems and 2D/3D solid thermo-mechanical finite element models of engine components. We solve an unsteady heat transfer

Horizontal casting cooling beyond the crystallizer
It is shown that devices in the form of a water‑cooled metal mold with a graphite lining, which is located on the upper surface of the casting close to the end of the crystallizer, can serve as an alternative to secondary water‑air cooling systems in ...

New features on yttria‐stabilized zirconia after exposure at 1500°C: Newly discovered pyramidal structures on an old material. After exposure at 1550°C on the cross section of YSZ new features, namely pyramidal structures are discovered. These structures grow with time, increase in numbers, appear as singularities, are often arranged in strings, and ...

A simplified thermoplastic pultrusion model is developed to predict thermal fields in glass fiber/polyethylene terephthalate (GF/PET) composites with reduced computational cost. By combining effective material homogenization, validation against literature data, and Gaussian‐process‐based optimization, the study reveals how heating limits, pulling speed,

Modeling of residential outdoor exposure to traffic air pollution and assessment of associated health effects [PDF]
Traffic air pollution is known to affect cardiopulmonary health in the population. Children with asthma are amongst the most susceptible groups. Several epidemiological studies linked traffic air pollution with increased reporting of asthmatic symptoms ...
