Secondary arc modelling for single pole reclosing analyses
2015 IEEE Power & Energy Society General Meeting, 2015The paper discusses two evaluation methods of single pole auto-reclosing process effectiveness in HV transmission lines. Secondary arc current and recovery voltage calculation results obtained by load flow calculation are compared to the results obtained by the time domain simulations.

Secondary Arc Formation Within a Distributed Energy Railgun
IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, 2008Experimental results comparing a breech-fed scheme and two distributed energy schemes for a free-running arc are presented. Analysis and observations of the issues associated with distributed energy switching of a plasma arc in the railgun are explored.

Determination of secondary collimator shape in electron arc therapy
Physics in Medicine and Biology, 1993The characteristic angle- beta concept in electron arc therapy of non-cylindrical target volumes is applied in determining the required shape of the arced electron field to yield a uniform dose distribution inside the target volume. The empirical relationships derived for this purpose from the angle- beta concept are valid for all field widths and thus

Primary and Secondary Arcs in the Scandinavian Caledonian Chain
Nature, 1963PROF. J. TUZO WILSON et al.1 have given an outline of the European Caledonian and Hercynian mountains. Regarding the Scandinavian Caledonian chain these authors mention that secondary arcs can readily be made out in Sweden, and that igneous rocks of primary arcs are exposed in the Lofoten Islands off Norway.

Probability Distribution of Secondary Arc Duration on Solar Array
46th AIAA Aerospace Sciences Meeting and Exhibit, 2008Secondary arc on satellite solar array is sometimes fatal to spacecraft operation by damaging insulation of solar array string circuit. A proper ground test method is necessary to correctly assess the risk of secondary arc from the probability of occurrence in orbit.

A Measure to Limit Secondary Arc and TRVs in Yangcheng Project
2005 IEEE/PES Transmission & Distribution Conference & Exposition: Asia and Pacific, 2005The successful single phase auto re-close (SPAR) depends on the self-extinction of secondary arc current. The neutral reactor in the neutral of shunt reactors is applied to reduce the electrostatic component of the secondary arc in the traditional transmission lines.

A second generation EMET railgun for secondary arc studies
IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1991Since 1985 GT-Devices has been operating a pair of railguns with lengths of 0.9 m and 3.6 m, respectively. A new second-generation railgun is now being constructed to improve straightness, stiffness, sealing, and diagnostic access. The basic design consists of a steel tube with a thin lengthwise slit forming two halves in cross section with bolt ...

Secondary arc effects in AC/DC hybrid transmission
IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 1993Adding a DC circuit to an existing AC transmission line or replacing one AC circuit with a DC circuit is one method of significantly increasing the power transfer capability of the transmission line. Coupling at fundamental frequency from the AC circuit to the DC circuit on the same tower interferes with the clearing of DC line faults.
