Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Sphingosine 1-phosphate modulates antigen capture by murine langerhans cells via the S1P2 receptor subtype

open access: yes, 2012
Dendritic cells (DCs) play a pivotal role in the development of cutaneous contact hypersensitivity (CHS) and atopic dermatitis as they capture and process antigen and present it to T lymphocytes in the lymphoid organs.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

An investigation into the consequences of Salmonella infection of murine macrophages and dendritic cells: relevance to reactive arthritis.

open access: yes, 2006
Reactive arthritis (ReA) is a sterile joint inflammation triggered by bacterial infection and is associated with the MHC class I molecule HLA-B27. Bacterial antigens have been detected in synovial tissues from ReA patients, but how they are transported ...

Gene Expression Profiling of Encephalitogenic CD4+ T cells: Identification of Genes Controlling Migration of Effector T cells into the CNS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
T cells directed against brain antigens are generally held to play a crucial role in the initiation of multiple sclerosis (MS). This was deduced from experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE).

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Characterisation of antigen-presenting cells in the murine female reproductive tract and its draining lymph nodes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Despite the global burden of sexually transmitted diseases, the immunology of the female reproductive tract is poorly understood. An understanding of how the distribution of antigen presenting cells in the tissue and cross talk between cell types both ...

Serum erythropoietin and erythropoiesis in primary and secondary hyperparathyroidism: effect of parathyroidectomy

open access: yes, 1991
Primary as well as secondary hyperparathyroidism may be associated with anemia, and parathyroidectomy (PTx) may improve or even heal it. The precise link between the two conditions is still matter of discussion.
