Control of confounding through secondary samples
Statistics in Medicine, 2006AbstractThe control of confounding is essential in many statistical problems, especially in those that attempt to estimate exposure effects. In some cases, in addition to the ‘primary’ sample, there is another ‘secondary’ sample which, though having no direct information about the exposure effect, contains information about the confounding factors. The

Improvements of the Secondary Voltage Control in France
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1987Abstract The voltage of the french electric power system is regulated by different actions, which are organized in three levels (primary, secondary, tertiary), thus forming a hierarchical structure in space and time. This paper deals with the automatic regional control, called Secondary Voltage Control (in french : R.S.T).

Semiactive control of a secondary train suspension
2007 IEEE/ASME international conference on advanced intelligent mechatronics, 2007The topic of this paper is the design and analysis of a control system for the lateral movement of the carbody in a train. The control system is implemented via semi-active electro-hydraulic dampers located on the secondary-suspension that links the bogie to the structure of the carbody of the train.

Controlled and Chemoselective Reduction of Secondary Amides
Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2010This communication describes a metal-free methodology involving an efficient and controlled reduction of secondary amides to imines, aldehydes, and amines in good to excellent yields under ambient pressure and temperature. The process includes a chemoselective activation of a secondary amide with triflic anhydride in the presence of 2-fluoropyridine ...

Secondary analysis of case-control data
Statistics in Medicine, 2006We extend the discussion of Lee et al. and others on methods for performing secondary analyses of case-control sampled data and carry out an extensive investigation of efficiency and robustness. We find that, with the exception of the 'analyse-the-controls-only' strategy for populations in which cases are rare, ad hoc methods in common usage often lead

Optimal secondary control for DC microgrids
2016 IEEE 25th International Symposium on Industrial Electronics (ISIE), 2016In this paper, DC microgrids are modeled as parallel interconnection DC/DC converters. Classical control of such a topology uniformly distributes the total current over branches. This paper demonstrates that such a strategy does not minimize the overall losses when heterogeneous converters are considered.
