A gradient‐engineered all‐paper sensor is fabricated by integrating MXene and in situ grown AgNPs within hierarchical cellulose networks. The device breaks the sensitivity–detection range trade‐off through cascaded conductive pathways, enabling ultrahigh pressure sensitivity, humidity–pressure decoupled dual‐mode sensing, and outstanding EMI shielding,

Ant-diaspore interactions during secondary succession in the Atlantic forest of Brazil
Animal-plant interactions are important for the recovery of diversity and processes in secondary forests, which increasingly dominate the tropical landscape. We used a combination of observational and experimental approaches to study the interactions of ants with diaspores across a successional gradient of forests in Southern Brazil, from August 2007 ...

An Alhagi maurorum inspired hierarchical composite membrane (NFCu) was developed by integrating heavy metal remediation and solar‐driven interfacial evaporation in a single platform. Beyond the photothermal effect, a localized photocatalytic process is realized on the CuO surface, deepening the mechanistic understanding of light–matter–water ...

Rapid Shifts in Soil Nutrients and Decomposition Enzyme Activity in Early Succession Following Forest Fire [PDF]
While past research has studied forest succession on decadal timescales, ecosystem responses to rapid shifts in nutrient dynamics within the first months to years of succession after fire (e.g., carbon (C) burn-off, a pulse in inorganic nitrogen (N ...

Key role of symbiotic dinitrogen fixation in tropical forest secondary succession
Forests contribute a significant portion of the land carbon sink, but their ability to sequester CO2 may be constrained by nitrogen, a major plant-limiting nutrient. Many tropical forests possess tree species capable of fixing atmospheric dinitrogen (N2), but it is unclear whether this functional group can supply the nitrogen needed as forests recover ...

Leaftronics: Bio‐Fractal Scaffolds From Leaf Venation for Low‐Waste Electronics
“Leaftronics” transforms naturally evolved leaf venation into quasi‐fractal scaffolds for sustainable electronics. Polymer‐infiltrated leaf skeletons can be used to fabricate ultra‐smooth, reflow‐ and thin‐film‐compatible decomposable substrates, while making the same lignocellulose networks conducting results in flexible transparent electrodes.

Secondary succession in tropical dry forests [PDF]
Secondary succession is a complex process involving numerous factors acting across scales. Understanding secondary succession in tropical dry forests is important for the conservation and restoration of this highly threatened biome. My research aims to improve knowledge of the trajectories and drivers of secondary succession in this biome, and the ...
