Increasing calcium scarcity along Afrotropical forest succession

open access: yes, 2022
: Biogeochemical analysis of a chronosequence of secondary forest succession in lowland Central Africa suggests that calcium becomes an increasingly scarce and potentially limiting resource with stand age and ecosystem calcium storage shifts from soil to

Secondary Succession in the Tropical Lowland Rainforest Reduced the Stochasticity of Soil Bacterial Communities through the Stability of Plant Communities

open access: yes, 2022
The effects of natural succession on plant and soil bacterial communities were previously established, but changes in plant and soil bacterial communities and their response to soil properties are not well characterized in different stages of secondary ...

Copper‐Driven Epithelial Barrier Disruption: A Novel Mechanism of COPD Acute Exacerbations Mediated by the TNF‐α/ATP7A Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals a copper‐driven mechanism of COPD acute exacerbations mediated by the TNF‐α/ATP7A axis. TNF‐α suppresses the copper transporter ATP7A via competitive NF‐κB/CREB1/CBP signaling, resulting in intracellular copper accumulation, mitochondrial oxidative stress, and epithelial barrier disruption.

Ecosystem services supply and interactions along secondary tropical dry forests succession

open access: yes, 2021
Secondary forests will likely dominate future tropical landscapes, and the ecosystem services they provide to humanity will be particularly relevant. However, few empirical studies provide quantitative evidence of how the supply of ecosystem services ...

Bamboo charcoal application altered the mineralization process of soil organic carbon in different succession stages of karst forest land

open access: yesFrontiers in Environmental Science
Introduction: As a soil amendment, Bamboo charcoal helps to contributes to the improvement of soil carbon sequestration, but its effect on the accumulation and transformation of different soil organic carbon in soil of karst forests is not clear. Methods:

Beta diversity subcomponents of plant species turnover and nestedness reveal drivers of community assembly in a regenerating subtropical forest

open access: yesEcology and Evolution
Secondary forests represent a significant proportion of global forest cover, with over 70% of forests in East Asia classified as regenerating. While succession has been studied extensively in temperate systems, trajectories of subtropical succession ...

UDP‐Glucose‐6‐Dehydrogenase Mediated O‐GlcNAcylation of Tight Junction Protein 1 Suppresses Metastasis in Renal Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Our research unveiled a regulatory paradigm wherein TRIM25 orchestrates the ubiquitin‐mediated degradation of UGDH. UGDH modulates the protein stability of TJP1 by regulating O‐GlcNAcylation levels, effectively impeding the metastasis of ccRCC. Our insights elevate UGDH to a pivotal biomarker and tumor suppressor, marking the first demonstration that ...
