Development of an RNA Nanostructure for Effective Botrytis cinerea Control through Spray-Induced Gene Silencing without an Extra Nanocarrier

open access: yesJournal of Fungi
Spray-induced gene silencing represents an eco-friendly approach for crop protection through the use of double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) to activate the RNA interference (RNAi) pathway, thereby silencing crucial genes in pathogens.

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

Hydrogen-bonding interactions in the crystalline-phase structures of cinnamic acid derivatives

open access: yes, 1999
Secondary interactions responsible for the crystalline-phase structures of various cinnamic acids and cinnamic acid esters drawn from the Cambridge Structural Database were studied with the help of the Cerius package implemented on an SGI workstation ...

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

Development of Triangle RNA Nanostructure for Enhancing RNAi-Mediated Control of Botrytis cinerea Through Spray-Induced Gene Silencing Without Extra Nanocarrier

open access: yesBiology
Botrytis cinerea, a necrotrophic fungal pathogen responsible for gray mold, poses a severe threat to over 1400 plant species, causing significant pre- and postharvest losses worldwide.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Studies on the in vitro hepatic microsomal formation of amides during the metabolism of certain secondary and tertiary benzylic amines

open access: yes, 2000
Part of our interest during the last few years has been to investigate the possible intermediate(s) and mechanism(s) involved in the formation of amides from N-benzylic amines. A number of benzylic amines with different aryl and alkyl moieties introduced
