Ferrate (Fe(VI)) is a prospective green oxidant owing to producing highly reactive Fe(IV)/Fe(V) for micropollutant degradation. However, the performance is significantly compromised by the severe side reaction of Fe(VI) self-decay with H2O, generating ...

Overexpression of CHRDL2 in colon cancer cells makes them more stem‐like and resistant to chemo‐ and radiotherapy. CHRDL2‐high cells have upregulation of the WNT pathway, genes involved in the DNA damage response (DDR) pathway and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT). This leads to quicker repair of damaged DNA and more cell migration.

EMT‐associated bias in the Parsortix® system observed with pancreatic cancer cell lines
The Parsortix® system was tested for CTC enrichment using pancreatic cancer cell lines with different EMT phenotypes. Spike‐in experiments showed lower recovery of mesenchymal‐like cells. This was confirmed with an EMT‐inducible breast cancer cell line.

Sensitivity of fluvial sediment source apportionment to mixing model assumptions: A Bayesian model comparison [PDF]
Mixing models have become increasingly common tools for apportioning fluvial sediment load to various sediment sources across catchments using a wide variety of Bayesian and frequentist modeling approaches.

In luminal (ER+) breast carcinoma (BC), miRNA profiling identified miR‐195‐5p as a key regulator of proliferation that targets CHEK1, CDC25A, and CCNE1. High CHEK1 expression correlates with worse relapse‐free survival after chemotherapy, especially in patients with luminal A subtype.

Paleogeographic numerical modeling of marginal seas for the Holocene – an exemplary study of the Baltic Sea [PDF]
The sustainable management of marginal seas is based on a thorough understanding of their evolutionary trends in the past. The paleogeographic evolution of marginal seas is controlled not only by global and regional driving forces (eustatic sea-level ...

Sedimentation of microplastics interacting with sediment
The widespread presence of microplastics (MPs) in freshwater environments underscores the need to better understand their temporal and spatial dynamics. Investigating the settling velocity (W) of MPs in the water column is crucial for comprehending their transport mechanisms within river systems.

In thyroid cancer patients, high‐dose (≥7.4 GBq) radioactive iodine therapy (RAIT) was associated with a higher prevalence of clonal hematopoiesis (variant allele frequency >2%) in individuals aged ≥50 years (OR = 2.44). In silico analyses showed that truncating PPM1D mutations conferred a selective advantage under these conditions.
