Contractor Penalized for Discharging Sediment

Journal AWWA, 1993
As the site‐grading contractor for a project in Alabama, Wright Brothers Construction Company cut and filled a portion of Red Mountain to create a level 60‐acre site for development. The contract said Wright was responsible for erosion and pollution control.

Sediment Discharge Computation Procedures

Journal of the Hydraulics Division, 1972
An analysis is made of some of the recent and more accepted sediment transport concepts as related to transport rates in flow systems. The analysis covers bed, suspended, and total load discharge computation procedures with descriptions of mathematical modeling techniques where applicable.

The ratio of measured to total sediment discharge

International Journal of Sediment Research, 2019
Abstract It is important to examine the ratio of measured to total sediment discharge to determine the error in measured sediment transport rates from depth-integrated samplers. The ratio of measured to total sediment discharge as well as the ratio of suspended to total sediment discharge are examined based on the Modified Einstein Procedure.

Sediment Discharge Model for Small Watersheds

Transactions of the ASAE, 1989
ABSTRACT The sediment discharge component of a watershed simulation model called RUNOFF is presented. The model component uses a runoff simulation component and simulates space and time distributed soil erosion, sediment transport and sediment deposition and computes sediment discharges in a small watershed resulting from a single rainfall event.

Calculation of Efficiency of a Continuous Sedimentation Centrifuge with Scroll Sediment Discharge

Chemical and Petroleum Engineering, 2017
Separation of a liquid + solid suspension in a scroll centrifuge rotor is simulated using a model of slow relative motion of an isolated small-diameter spherical particle in a swirling flow of an incompressible viscous liquid circulating between two rotating coaxial cylinders. The key efficiency parameters of the machine in terms of separation fineness

Model Calibration for Sediment Pond Discharge

World Environmental and Water Resources Congress 2007, 2007
The author's two-dimensional model for unsteady sediment discharge at a pond outlet was developed using the finite element method. The model simulates depth-averaged flow velocity in the pond and the depth-averaged suspended sediment moving from the pond inlet to the outlet.

Response of bankfull discharge to discharge and sediment load in the Lower Yellow River

Geomorphology, 2008
This paper presents a study on the response of bankfull discharge to incoming discharge and sediment load based on long-term hydrological and bankfull discharge data measured on the lower reaches of the Yellow River. The analysis indicated that the bankfull discharge was a function of the preceding 5 to 6 years' flow regimes, revealing that bankfull ...
