Adenosine triphosphate as a modulator of protein interactions and stability

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ATP is best known as the cell's energy currency, but it also shapes how proteins fold, interact, aggregate and form biomolecular condensates. This review explains the emerging physical principles behind these effects, including weak binding to charged protein regions, magnesium‐dependent behaviour and concentration‐dependent control of protein ...

Sediment Depositional History and Processes for the Eurasian Basin Since 54 Ma, Arctic Ocean

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems
The Eurasian Basin in the Arctic Ocean, comprising the Amundsen and Nansen Basins separated by the Gakkel Ridge, has sediment deposits up to 4–5 km thick. However, its sedimentation history and processes remain poorly understood.

Protocol for quantifying miRNA trafficking across the endosomal membrane

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An in vitro protocol measures miRNA uptake into endosomes isolated from mammalian cell extracts, which are free of subcellular contaminants. Performed at 37 °C in the presence of ATP, it ensures the import of single‐stranded miRNA into the endosomal lumen.

The Influence of Current Magnitudes and Profiles on the Sedimentation of Magnetorheological Fluids: An Experimental Work

open access: yesMagnetochemistry
Magnetorheological fluids (MRFs) are widely used for various kinds of controllable devices since their properties can be controlled by an external magnetic field.

Heterotropic regulation and negative homotropic cooperativity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We identified a structural module common to some proteins that couple negative cooperativity with heterotropic regulation, two features that rarely coexist. These proteins are ring‐like and present an ordered asymmetry whereby noncontacting subunits are symmetric, and their tertiary structure differs from that of contacting subunits.

Avidin is evolutionarily conserved in fish but dispensable for development and resistance against Streptococcus agalactiae in zebrafish

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The presence of biotin‐binding avidin proteins in fish and their biological significance are poorly characterized. We cataloged fish avidins and demonstrate that they are widely present and evolutionarily conserved. We created avd knockout zebrafish and show that zebavidin is dispensable for development and that resistance of avd knockout embryos in ...

Influence of aluminium coagulants composition on colloidal characteristics of humic substances dispersions

open access: yesЖурнал Белорусского государственного университета: Химия, 2017
The effect of aluminium coagulants composition on colloidal characteristics of humic substances dispersions (diameter, particle size distribution, density and sedimentation rate of aggregates) was investigated by using of laser diffraction method ...

A sedimentary evolvement record and its response to anthropogenic-driven pressure in the shallow Honghu Lake over a century

open access: yesAll Earth
Lake sediments record the environment during the lake sedimentation whose characteristics can infer environmental changes and human activities. In this study, the 210Pb chronologies and sedimentation rate of the sediment core in Honghu Lake were ...

Mutant NPM1 in Acute Myeloid Leukemia Initiation and Maintenance

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
NPM1 mutations drive acute myeloid leukemia by acting as neomorphic transcriptional regulators that cooperate with Menin–MLL and XPO1 to sustain HOX/MEIS1 expression and block differentiation. Targeting these mutant‐specific transcriptional dependencies provides a rational therapeutic strategy for NPM1‐mutated AML.

Optimization of flow division pier distribution for a sedimentation tank in the Oujiang Water Diversion Project

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science
Sedimentation tank design is of key importance in a water diversion project. Both physical and numerical models are used to study the hydrodynamics and sediment transport in the sedimentation tank of the Oujiang Water Diversion Project.
