Seed coat structure and dormancy
Plant Growth Regulation, 1992An understanding of dormancy mechanisms is of ecological and economic importance. Identification of the level at which dormancy is imposed appears to be species specific. The variation brought about by this therefore requires that developmental studies be included in seed coat dormancy experiments.

Dormancy in seeds imposed by the seed coat
1965The resting condition of many seeds, especially those of different farm and garden crops, is maintained only as long as the seeds are in dry storage. As soon as a suitably moist medium and a favorable temperature are provided germination proceeds almost immediately.

Delivering Fertilizers Through Seed Coatings
Journal of Crop Production, 1998Summary Coating seeds with nutrients may be an effective way of supplying starter fertilizer for establishment of seedlings and early growth. However, a large variability in benefits of providing nutrients with seeds has been reported, highlighting differences in the implementation of the techniques.

Crop protection by seed coating.
Communications in agricultural and applied biological sciences, 2006Providence of sufficient and healthy food for increasing human population clears the importance of notice to increasing crop production in company with environmental loss reduction. Growth and yield of every plant with sexual reproduction, depends on germination & emergence of sown seeds.
