Contraction Kinetics of Cell-Seeded Collagen Gels: Effects of Cell-Seeding Density
Advances in Bioengineering, 1998Abstract Advances in our knowledge and experience with mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and their potential use in repair and regeneration of skeletal tissue, such as tendon [1,7], cartilage [6] and bone [3], makes this multipotential cell an attractive choice for such transplantation therapies.

Enhanced diamond nucleation density utilising seeding
Diamond and Related Materials, 1998This paper reports on a new technique for surface pre-treatment of silicon and other substrate materials to enhance diamond nucleation before diamond deposition. Polycrystalline diamond particles (ballas or cauliflower diamond particles) are grown in a CVD environment under hydrocarbon concentrations of 8-15%.

Grassland restoration by seeding: seed source and growth form matter more than density
Applied Vegetation Science, 2014AbstractQuestionWhat is the relative significance of seed source, growth form and seeding density in contributing to restoration of calcareous grasslands?LocationExperimental field site on calcareous gravel in the lowlands north of Munich (S Germany).MethodsThe research question was investigated using a dominant grass (Festuca rubra) and three ...

A Density-Based Seed-Centric Community Detection Algorithm
2016 13th Web Information Systems and Applications Conference (WISA), 2016Although many different community detection algorithms have been proposed to detect community structures in complex networks, how to effectively detect community structures is still a great challenge. Seed-centric methods is one of the most effective solutions for community detection.

High-density miniaturized seed orchards of Douglas-fir
New Forests, 2014We studied miniaturized seed orchards (MSOs) and conventional orchards of coastal Douglas-fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii var. menziesii) in a series of experiments conducted at three locations in Oregon and Washington between 2002 and 2012. In Experiment 1, cone yields were greater using stem girdles plus stem injections of GA4/7 compared to girdling alone,

Density-dependent germination response by seeds of desert annuals
Oecologia, 1980Field observations and experiments indicate that the presence of seedlings at high densities inhibits subsequent germination of desert annuals. Since plants growing at high densities face severe competition for limited resources, this response by seeds is interpreted as an adaptation to avoid an unfavorable competitive climate where growth and ...

Two-phase seeding in low-density plasma flow
AIAA Journal, 1971Numerical solutions of a typical boundary-layer seeding problem at low pressure are presented to demonstrate the important roles played by the interaction of heterogeneous fluid flow and chemical processes. A physicochemical model is developed for the investigation of the coupling of heterogeneous vaporization kinetics in a rarefied atmosphere, with ...

Ultrahigh particle density seeding with nanocrystal diamond particles
Thin Solid Films, 1996We have reported the seeding pretreatment for Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) using nanocrystal diamond particles of 5 nm in average size [1,2]. In this work, we attempted to seed Si substrates with well purified and well-dispersed nanocrystal diamond particles for the synthesis of diamond films by a magneto-active microwave plasma CVD or a ...

MDCK microcarrier cultures: Seeding density effects and amino acid utilization
In Vitro, 1982The growth of Madin Darby canine kidney cells on microcarriers was studied at different cell seeding densities. Maximum growth was attained when a cell-to-bead ratio of 7:1 was used. Under these conditions an initial concentration of above 3 X 10(6) cells/ml resulted in a yield of over 2 X 10(6) cell/ml in 2 d.
