COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Assessment of seedling emergence method in soil seed bank in two states of washing and non-washing [PDF]

open access: yesتحقیقات جنگل و صنوبر ایران, 2016
This study aimed to evaluate the results of soil seed bank in Tarbiat Modares Lowland Experimental Forest by using the two methods of washing and non-washing. Therefore, four main plots (40×40 m2)with each of them comprising 4 sub quadrats of 400 m2 were

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Effect of plant density on growth and yield attributes of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) genotypes

open access: yesNotulae Scientia Biologicae, 2020
Common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) is an economically significant seed crop in tropical regions. With the objective of studying the effect of plant density on growth and yield characteristics of common bean, four common bean varieties (‘GLP190S’, ‘NITU’,

LETTUCE FLOWERING AND SEED PRODUCTION UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF PLANT DENSITY AND FOLIAR SPRAYING WITH GIBBERLLIC ACID [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Plant Production, 2000
The effects of three levels of plant density (10, 14 and 28 plants/m2) and four GA3 concentrations (0, 5, 10 and 15 p.p.m.) on Romaine c.v. were studied during the growing seasons of 1994 and 1995.

Frugivory and seed dispersal by carnivores in the Rhodopi mountains of northern Greece [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
The frugivory and seed dispersal by carnivores were studied using a combination of vegetation surveys, fruit production counts and analysis of faeces distribution and content.

Seeds banks of desert annuals in an aridity gradient in the southern Atacama Desert

open access: yes, 2009
*Background/Question/Methods* Annual plant communities are important components of the biodiversity found in the coastal southern Atacama Desert in Chile. Moreover, they are an important economic resource for the human communities living in that

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.
