A conceptual model framework for integrating monitored-unmonitored and surface-subsurface flow contributions to the Baltic Sea

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science
Understanding the total water flows and pollutant loads to the Baltic Sea is important for effective coastal-marine ecosystem management. Current assessments often overlook the unmonitored flows and submarine groundwater discharge (SGD).

Amylases in Developing Barley Seeds [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1971
The amylases of developing barley seeds (Hordeum vulgare L. cv. Himalaya) were investigated by colorimetric and electrophoretic methods. Maxima of amylolytic activity appeared in the aleurone layers and starchy endosperm at 5 and 20 days after anthesis.

Revealing the structure of land plant photosystem II: the journey from negative‐stain EM to cryo‐EM

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Advances in cryo‐EM have revealed the detailed structure of Photosystem II, a key protein complex driving photosynthesis. This review traces the journey from early low‐resolution images to high‐resolution models, highlighting how these discoveries deepen our understanding of light harvesting and energy conversion in plants.

Optimising the seed production cycle of Delphinium elatum L. : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Plant Biology at Massey University, Palmerston North [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Delphinium elatum L. (Ranunculaceae) hybrids are developed by Dowdeswell's Delphiniums located at 692 Brunswick Road. Wanganui (www.delphinium.co.nz), who grow delphiniums for seed export. Development of new cultivars is important for commercial purposes,

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

COMPOSITION OF DEVELOPING PEANUT SEED [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1950
In a review of plant fats in relation to environment and evolution, McNair (5) noted that several factors influence fat production ; stage of development, carbohydrate percentage, vegetative vigor, heredity, and environment. Ivanow (4) showed that the percentage of oil increased in ripening flaxseed as the percentage of sugars decreased.
