Neutrophil‐Mimetic MRI Enables Ultra‐Early Detection of Vascular Inflammation After Stroke

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, we developed neutrophil‐mimetic MRI probes that detect ultra‐early neuroinflammation following ischemic stroke by targeting E‐selectin. Within seconds of their injection, these microparticles mimic initial leukocyte adhesion to the activated cerebral endothelium.

(Epi)genetic control of secondary seed dormancy depth and germination in Capsella bursa-pastoris.

open access: yes, 2022
Despite the importance of secondary dormancy for plant life cycle timing and survival, there is insufficient knowledge about the (epigenetic) regulation of this trait at the molecular level.

Seed dormancy types and germination response of 15 plant species in temperate montane peatlands

open access: yesEcology and Evolution
Despite their crucial role in determining the fate of seeds, the type and breaking mode of seed dormancy in peatland plants in temperate Asia with a continental monsoon climate are rarely known.

Multilayered Digital Microfluidic Chip for Cell‐Based Assays

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
A multilayered digital microfluidic (mDMF) chip architecture is introduced to improve throughput and robustness in cell‐based assays. By multilayering electrode components and dielectric layers on glass, this design significantly reduces actuation voltage, maintains reliability, and enables expansion of the operational area with minimum current leakage.

Topography‐Regulated Screening Platform for Myoblast Contact Guidance

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This study develops a topography‐regulated screening platform (12 gradients in 96‐topography‐well plate) enabling analysis of skeletal muscle morphogenesis. The topography‐induced cell morphology changed, cell polarization, and myotube differentiation, establishing an evaluative framework for generating pathologically relevant myotube phenotypes to ...

Characterisation of dormancy cycling responses to environmental signals in contrasting Arabidopsis thaliana ecotypes [PDF]

open access: yes
Seed dormancy is an important trait refined by evolution, to aid survival in adverse environments and to time germination and thereby select the correct habitat and climate space for subsequent plant growth and reproduction.
