Seed factors involved in early seedling establishment of Festuca arundinacea (tall fescue) : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Plant Biology and Biotechnology at Massey University, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
New Zealand pastures are commonly based on vigorously growing Lolium (ryegrass) species. In many situations, however, it is often advantageous to combine the vigorous qualities of Lolium species with the versatility of other species such as Festuca ...

Functional variants of DOG1 control seed chilling responses and variation in seasonal life-history strategies in Arabidopsis thaliana. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The seasonal timing of seed germination determines a plant's realized environmental niche, and is important for adaptation to climate. The timing of seasonal germination depends on patterns of seed dormancy release or induction by cold and interacts with

Microfluidic Platform with Local Oxygen Sensors Demonstrates That 3D Blood Vessel Networks Exhibit Time‐Dependent Changes in Oxygen Concentrations During Their Formation and Perfusion

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Novel OoC platform with functional vascular networks highlights challenges in oxygenation. This study uses optical oxygen sensors to monitor oxygen during vascular formation, revealing perfusion limitations and highlighting the need for better oxygenation strategies.

Alleviation of adverse effects of drought stress on wheat seed germination using atmospheric dielectric barrier discharge plasma treatment

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Atmospheric dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) was attempted to improve the resistance of wheat seed to drought stress. Effects of DBD plasma on wheat seed germination, seedling growth, osmotic-adjustment products, lipid peroxidation, reactive oxygen ...

Seed germination and in vitro regeneration of the African medicinal and pesticidal plant, Bobgunnia madagascariensis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Propagation of the medicinal and pesticidal tree, Bobgunnia madagascarensis is difficult due to poor and erratic germination of its seeds and slow growth of its seedlings. This study involved two separate experiments.

Application of a Dynamic Semitransparent Agrivoltaic Panel for Controlling Sunlight Allocation to Solar Cells and Crops

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, EarlyView.
Effects of dynamic agrivoltaic semitransparency controls on cucumber seedling growth are assessed for this study using a micro‐cell photovoltaic panel. Seedling growth with 9:30–14:30 agrivoltaic shading is comparable to that without shading. The dynamic shading regulates the electrical energy and crop production allocation.

Improvement of seed germination of Fagus orientalis Lipsky [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
This thesis was seeking two main approaches for improvement of seed germination of oriental beech, a timber producing species in Hyrcanian forests in northern Iran. Germination behavior of beechnuts was enhanced either by decreasing the dormancy breakage

Evolution of Ocular Organ‐On‐Chip Systems for Disease Modelling and Drug Testing: Where are We Now?

open access: yesAdvanced Therapeutics, EarlyView.
The rise in ophthalmic diseases due to aging, screen use, and environmental factors has driven demand for better ocular models. Traditional systems fall short, encouraging the development of organ‐on‐chip devices. These microfluidic platforms replicate eye tissue architecture, enable drug screening, and simulate ocular diseases.

Exogenous spermidine improves seed germination of sweet corn via involvement in phytohormone interactions, H2O2 and relevant gene expression

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology, 2017
The low seed vigor and poor field emergence are main factors that restricting the extension of sweet corn in China. Spermidine (Spd) plays an important role in plant growth and development, but little is known about the effect of Spd on sweet corn seed ...
