Exogenous melatonin accelerates seed germination in cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.)

open access: yesbioRxiv, 2019
Seed germination is considered as the beginning of the spermatophyte lifecycle, as it is a crucial stage in determining subsequent plant growth and development.

Thermoinhibition of seed germination

open access: yesSouth African Journal of Botany, 2003
Thermoinhibition describes the inability of seeds to germinate at high temperatures, although germination proceeds immediately when the temperature is reduced below a certain threshold level. This phenomenon is distinct from thermodormancy, where some form of dormancy-breaking treatment is required before germination can proceed at the favourable ...

Seed Priming with Melatonin Improves the Seed Germination of Waxy Maize under Chilling Stress via Promoting the Antioxidant System and Starch Metabolism

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2019
Chilling stress is one of the major abiotic stresses affecting waxy maize plant growth. Melatonin (MT) is able to improve tolerance to abiotic stress in plants.

Palm Seed Germination

open access: yesEDIS, 1969
The purpose of this publication is to outline and discuss the various aspects of handling and germinating palm seeds in the most cost-effective and reliable manner possible. This document is BUL274, one of a series of the Environmental Horticulture Department, Florida Cooperative Extension Service, Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences ...

Relationship between seed harvesting method and seed physiological quality for a number of Pioneer maize hybrids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The seed germination and seed vigor of eight Pioneer Hi-Bred maize hybrids were evaluated immediately after harvesting and a year later. The aim was to determine whether the seed showed loss of germination and vigor when shelled mechanically.

Stratification requirements for seed dormancy alleviation in a wetland weed. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Echinochloaoryzicola(syn.E. phyllopogon) is an exotic weed of California rice paddies that has evolved resistance to multiple herbicides. Elimination of seedlingsthroughcertain weed control methods can limit the spread of this weed, but is contingent on ...

Responses of germination to light and to far-red radiation—can they be predicted from diaspores size? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
This paper presents an update of a dataset of seed volumes previously released online and combines it with published data of the photoblastic response of germination of fruits or seeds (light or dark conditions), and of the effects of enhanced far-red ...

YAP1::TFE3 mediates endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal plasticity in epithelioid hemangioendothelioma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The YAP1::TFE3 fusion protein drives endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EndMT) plasticity, resulting in the loss of endothelial characteristics and gain of mesenchymal‐like properties, including resistance to anoikis, increased migratory capacity, and loss of contact growth inhibition in endothelial cells.

A quantitative trait locus, qSE3, promotes seed germination and seedling establishment under salinity stress in rice

open access: yesThe Plant Journal, 2019
Summary Seed germination is a complex trait determined by both quantitative trait loci (QTLs) and environmental factors and also their interactions.

LIN28B Promotes Cancer Cell Dissemination and Angiogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
Children diagnosed with high‐risk neuroblastoma have a 5‐year event‐free survival rate of less than 50% and poor outcomes after recurrence. Deregulation of the LIN28B oncogene can be addressed in these patients. Upregulation of LIN28B is shown to support the metastatic cascade.
