Metrological Characterization of Optical Measuring System for Hardness Indenters
The verification of the geometry of Rockwell indenters has been widely studied in the past and, at the present, it is one of the most important tasks (in the uncertainty budget of hardness measurements) in discussion in many international organizations ...

Transient Cytoskeletal Anisotropy Encodes Short‐Term Mechanical Memory in Glioblastoma Cells
The same mechanical deformation can produce distinct cytoskeletal states depending on loading history. Experiments and constitutive modeling reveal that transient actin–vimentin anisotropy stores mechanical information and governs short‐term mechanical memory in glioblastoma cells.

The valorization of poppy seed cake for Pickering stabilization of functional ice creams
This study aimed to valorize poppy seed cake by its incorporation into functional vegan ice creams based on coconut milk. Poppy seed cake's phytochemical composition (phenolics and flavonoids) was analyzed alongside its antioxidant activities (DPPH ...

We present elastomeric three‐dimensional (3D) microstructures fabricated via two‐photon polymerization (2PP) and post‐processed through wet etching, for quantifying nanonewton (nN)‐scale forces applied by healthy and diseased neural cells. The mechanically characterized free‐standing beam architectures enable measurement of traction forces of ...

How Variables Like Parent, Seed Size and Desiccation Time Affect Seed Deterioration of Quercus macrocarpa L. [PDF]
Desiccation sensitivity is the main characteristic of recalcitrant seeds that poses limitations to practices such as storage and direct seeding. This study investigated the effect of parent tree, seed size, and desiccation time on seed variables ...

Approximation hardness of dominating set problems in bounded degree graphs [PDF]
We study approximation hardness of the Minimum Dominating Set problem and its variants in undirected and directed graphs. Using a similar result obtained by Trevisan for Minimum Set Cover we prove the first explicit approximation lower bounds for various

Bioengineered Interfaces for Peripheral Nerve Sensory Restoration
Half of amputees abandon their prosthetics for lack of feeling. This review charts the full path from peripheral nerve injury to restored sensation, through surgical, regenerative, noninvasive, and implanted approaches, and shows how injury type and interface material properties determine which strategy can deliver naturalistic feedback, and why ...
