Preference‐performance relationship in the thistle tortoise beetle: Implications for its realised host range

Ecological Entomology, EarlyView.
There was a positive relationship between adult preference and larval performance. However, the strength of the relationship ranged from weak to strong depending on the measure of adult preference. The adult beetle showed substantial flexibility in host plant selection and equal performance across most thistle hosts.

Moderately urbanised landscapes may function as temporal refuge zones where habitat heterogeneity and establishment suitability allow some bat species to colonise and persist.

Fire‐driven forest degradation enhances termite activity and accelerates litter decomposition in the Amazonia rainforest

Forest degradation increased termite‐mediated litter decomposition, whereas no such effect was detected in undisturbed forests. Reduced ant predation and altered forest conditions were associated with higher termite abundance and faster litter decomposition.
