Effect of hot water treatment of seeds on seed quality parameters and seedling growth parameters in bell pepper (Capsicum annuum)

open access: yesThe Indian Journal of Agricultural Sciences, 2019
The experiment was undertaken to extrapolate the effect of hot water seed treatment comprised of different ranges of temperature (47-49, 50-52 and 53-55°C) and different duration of time (30, 45 and 60 min.) on seed quality parameters and seedling ...

Automation of Seed Priming Technology for Enhanced Seed Vigour of Blackgram Seeds [PDF]

open access: yesLEGUME RESEARCH - AN INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL, 2021
Background: Seed priming technique involves soaking of seeds in priming agent to a point where germination related metabolic activities occur in the seeds followed by drying of imbibed seeds to original moisture to prevent the radical protrusion and facilitate storage of primed seed.

Respiration Dynamics and a Rapid Colorimetric Assay for Seed Vigour Assessment in Paddy and Lentil

open access: yesInternational Journal of Bio-Resource and Stress Management
The experiment was conducted during October, 2024–June, 2025 at Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi to study seed respiration and vigour assessment in lentil and paddy. Seed respiration was one of the earliest metabolic activities recorded

A fast ethanol assay to detect seed deterioration

open access: yes, 2012
The most common way to test seed quality is to use a simple and reliable but time- and space-consuming germination test. In this paper we present a fast and simple method to analyse cabbage seed deterioration by measuring ethanol production from ...

Impact of sugar beet seed priming using the SMP method on the properties of the pericarp

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology, 2020
Background This study determined the effects of two solid matrix priming methods on changes in the characteristics of two lots of the same variety of sugar beet fruits that differ in the level of vigour. Results Seed treatment within each level of vigour

Germination and vigour of primed asparagus seeds [PDF]

open access: yesScientia Agricola, 2005
The osmotic conditioning or priming is considered a promising technique to speed up germination and to improve seed performance. Four seed lots of asparagus, Mary Washington cultivar, were primed at 25°C for seven or 14 days using PEG 6000 at -1.0 or -1.2 MPa, or sea water at -3.3 MPa; or for three days in distilled water.

Advantages of more stressful cold test procedure for evaluation of maize seed vigour [PDF]

open access: yesSelekcija i Semenarstvo
Cold test (CT) is the oldest vigour test, which is widely used for testing maize seed. CT has not been validated and it is not included in the ISTA Rules, due to the variations in the soil used as a substrate and differences in test procedures.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.
