Controlled deterioration test determines vigour and predicts field emergence in pepper seed lots

open access: yes, 2008
The controlled deterioration (CD) test is a vigour test for small seeded vegetables. Thirteen pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) seed lots were deteriorated at 24% seed moisture content for 24, 48, or 72 hours at three different temperatures (41, 43 and 45 ...

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 20, Issue 6, Page 1626-1642, June 2026.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

The potential of vigour tests to identify differences in the extent of ageing in onion seeds

open access: yes, 2006
Twenty-eight seed lots of two onion cultivars (Diana F1 and Aki) were created by naturally aging seeds during storage at 10% MC and 5 degrees and 25 degrees C for up to 22 months to investigate the ability of the vigour tests to identify differences in ...

Seed vigour and crop establishment:extending performance beyond adaptation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Seeds are central to crop production, human nutrition, and food security. A key component of the performance of crop seeds is the complex trait of seed vigour.

Assessment of Potato Mother Tuber Vigour Using the Method of Accelerated Ageing

open access: yesPlant Production Science, 2013
The vigour of seed material determines the seed’s future productivity. Although there are several tests for determining seed vigour, there is a lack of standardization for the vegetative forms of seed material, including seed potatoes.

Estimation of Barley Seed Vigour with Respect to Variety and Provenance Effects

open access: yesCzech Journal of Genetics and Plant Breeding, 2006
The study was aimed at determining potential differences in seed quality of spring and winter barley in relation to varieties (four winter and two spring barley varieties) and growing conditions (six locations, two years).

Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 20, Issue 6, Page 1591-1611, June 2026.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

Effect of bioagents on cucumber seed mycoflora, seed germination, and seedling vigour

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
AbstractThe effect of different bioagents such as Trichoderma harzianum, T. viride, T. virens, Pseudomonas fluorescens, and Bacillus subtilis was studied on seed mycoflora, seed germination, root/shoot length, and seedling vigour of cucumber var. Solan Srijan under in vitro conditions. Alternaria sp., Aspergillus sp., and Fusarium spp. were observed on

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.
