Detailed comparison of injection-seeded and self-seeded performance of a 1060nm gain-switched Fabry-Perot laser diode

open access: yes, 2016
We investigate and compare the performance of a gain-switched picosecond Fabry-Perot laser diode operated at 1.06 µm under both injection- and self-seeded conditions.

CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.

Improving PARP inhibitor efficacy in bladder cancer without genetic BRCAness by combination with PLX51107

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Clinical trials on PARP inhibitors in urothelial carcinoma (UC) showed limited efficacy and a lack of predictive biomarkers. We propose SLFN5, SLFN11, and OAS1 as UC‐specific response predictors. We suggest Talazoparib as the better PARP inhibitor for UC than Olaparib.

Cover Crop Planting Date x Seeding Rate Trial [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
When corn silage is harvested in the fall, the entire plant is removed, leaving the soil exposed through the winter. Many farmers have started to plant cover crops following corn harvest because of the multitude of benefits cover cropping brings to soil ...

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

Corn seeding rates and variable-rate seeding [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The current demand for corn has generated a great deal of discussion this past winter of corn yields exceeding 300 bushels per acre. What management considerations should producers make when aiming for high yields?

Class IIa HDACs forced degradation allows resensitization of oxaliplatin‐resistant FBXW7‐mutated colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
HDAC4 is degraded by the E3 ligase FBXW7. In colorectal cancer, FBXW7 mutations prevent HDAC4 degradation, leading to oxaliplatin resistance. Forced degradation of HDAC4 using a PROTAC compound restores drug sensitivity by resetting the super‐enhancer landscape, reprogramming the epigenetic state of FBXW7‐mutated cells to resemble oxaliplatin ...

Soybean Row Spacing and Seeding Rate

open access: yes, 2018
Recommendations for soybean seeding rates have been targeted between 125,000 and 140,000 seeds/acre with the objective of targeting a final plant population of at least 100,000 plants/acre. It is understood a 15-in. row spacing has approximately 4.5 bushels/acre higher yields than 30-in. row spacing.

Grain Yield and Nitrogen Use Efficiency of a Small‐Grain‐Weight Variety Grown Under Different Nitrogen and Seeding Rates in Direct‐Seeded Rice in South China

open access: yesFood and Energy Security
Small‐grain‐weight rice varieties are popular in South China. However, to maintain grain yields comparable to medium‐grain‐weight varieties, adjustments in nitrogen (N) and seeding rate management may be necessary.
