Postoperative Curvature Loss in Three‐Level Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion With Zero‐Profile Device

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 18, Issue 9, Page 1819-1827, September 2026.
This study focused on postoperative curvature loss (PCL) for three‐level anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) with Zero‐Profile device. Lower preoperative curvature and preoperative T1 slope were predictive factors of PCL. Postoperative change of TPE distance and T1 slope were risk factors. PCL may impair patients' quality of life.

The Impact of Baseline Negative Emotions on Postoperative Quality of Life in Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis Patients: A 2‐Year Follow‐Up Study

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 18, Issue 9, Page 1871-1879, September 2026.
Preoperative anxiety and depression do not affect the recovery of physical function in AIS patients after spinal correction surgery but significantly impede improvements in subjective quality of life dimensions, including mental health and treatment satisfaction.

Lordosis angle versus velocity of lordosis angle.

open access: yes, 2013
Averaged lordosis angle, normalized to the upright standing lordosis, versus the velocity of lordosis angle for extension (left) and flexion (right) depending on age. All figures progress in a clockwise direction.

Morphologic changes of lumbar foramen and segmental lordosis related to cage position in transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion

open access: yes, 2020
A artrodese lombar intersomática transforaminal (TLIF) é um importante procedimento que tem sido utilizada para o tratamento de doenças degenerativas que acometem a coluna lombar.

50% body weight loading reduces stature increases and lumbar disc expansion from 4 h hyper‐buoyancy floatation versus 15 min sitting upright

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, Volume 111, Issue 9, Page 4126-4139, 1 September 2026.
Abstract Microgravity is associated with stature increases, back pain and post‐flight intervertebral disc (IVD) herniation. This study aims to determine whether 30 s seated 50% body weight (BW) axial loading is comparable to 15 min sitting upright in 1 g upon changes in stature, anterior lumbar IVD height (via ultrasound), passive vertebral stiffness ...

Hyper‐buoyancy flotation increases cervical disc height and reduces vertebral stiffness, with only partial reversal after acute 1 g axial loading

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, Volume 111, Issue 9, Page 4166-4178, 1 September 2026.
Abstract Exposure to microgravity is associated with stature increases, moderate‐to‐severe back/neck pain and elevated lumbar and cervical intervertebral disc (IVD) herniation risk post‐flight. Whilst lumbar pathophysiology has been investigated, little attention has been placed on the cervical spine.

Organ‐on‐a‐Chip Technology: Advances in Modeling Inflammation, Neurovascularization and Nociception in Human Intervertebral Disc Degeneration

open access: yesSmart Medicine, Volume 5, Issue 4, August 2026.
Organ‐on‐a‐chip to miniaturize the human intervertebral disc in modeling key degenerative features, including ECM degradation, inflammation, neovascularization, sensory innervation, and nociception toward precision translation for studying disease mechanisms and therapeutic testing.

Pelvic incidence-lumbar lordosis mismatch results in increased segmental joint loads in the unfused and fused lumbar spine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
PURPOSE Symptomatic adjacent segment disease (ASD) has been reported to occur in up to 27 % of lumbar fusion patients. A previous study identified patients at risk according to the difference of pelvic incidence and lordosis.
