TRPM8 levels determine tumor vulnerability to channel agonists

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TRPM8 is a Ca2+ permissive channel. Regardless of the amount of its transcript, high levels of TRPM8 protein mark different tumors, including prostate, breast, colorectal, and lung carcinomas. Targeting TRPM8 with channel agonists stimulates inward calcium currents followed by emptying of cytosolic Ca2+ stores in cancer cells.

Systematic profiling of cancer‐fibroblast interactions reveals drug combinations in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Fibroblasts, cells in the tumor environment, support ovarian cancer cell growth and alter morphology and drug response. We used fibroblast and cancer cell co‐culture models to test 528 drugs and discovered new drugs for combination treatment. We showed that adding Vorinostat or Birinapant to standard chemotherapy may improve drug response, suggesting ...

Brain Tumor Identification and Classification of MRI Images Using Deep Learning Techniques

open access: yesIEEE Access
The detection, segmentation, and extraction from Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) images of contaminated tumor areas are significant concerns; however, a repetitive and extensive task executed by radiologists or clinical experts relies on their expertise.

Tuning of conic parameters using Tikhonov regularization and L-Curve simulation

open access: yesDyna, 2019
In this article, a method to infer the parameters of a conic given a set of rectangular coordinates that belong to the geometric entity is shown. The methodology consists of solving a Tikhonov regulation problem where the unregulated term introduces the ...

Comprehensive omics‐based classification system in adult patients with B‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The COMBAT classification system, developed through multi‐omics integration, stratifies adult patients with B‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia(B‐ALL) into three molecular subtypes with distinct surface antigen patterns, immune landscape, methylation patterns, biological pathways and prognosis.

Generative Adversarial Networks in Histological Image Segmentation: A Systematic Literature Review

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Histological image analysis plays a crucial role in understanding and diagnosing various diseases, but manually segmenting these images is often complex, time-consuming, and heavily reliant on expert knowledge. Generative adversarial networks (GANs) have

The subcellular distribution of phosphorylated Y‐box‐binding protein‐1 at S102 in colorectal cancer patients, stratified by KRAS mutational status and clinicopathological features

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study identifies nuclear YB‐1 S102 phosphorylation as a marker associated with KRAS and FBXW7 mutations in colorectal cancer. Mutated KRAS correlates specifically with nuclear, not cytoplasmic, S102 YB‐1. These findings provide the first ex vivo evidence of this link in CRC and suggest future studies should assess the prognostic and therapeutic ...
