A SEGMENTED REGRESSION MODEL FOR DESCRIPTION OF MICROBIAL GROWTH [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Sciences, Islamic Republic of Iran, 1999
A segmented regression model for the description of microbial growth has been suggested. The model is able to predict the exponential growth, logistic growth, logistic growth with a phase of decline, diauxic growth, microbial growth in synchronous ...

Inflection and stability points of diphasic logistic analysis of growth

open access: yesScientia Agricola, 2015
Growth functions with inflection points following a diphasic model, can be adjusted by two approaches using segmented regression or the sum of two functions. In both cases, there are two functions, one for each phase, with inflection and stability points.

A Robust Regression Approach for Background/Foreground Segmentation

open access: yesCoRR, 2014
Background/foreground segmentation has a lot of applications in image and video processing. In this paper, a segmentation algorithm is proposed which is mainly designed for text and line extraction in screen content. The proposed method makes use of the fact that the background in each block is usually smoothly varying and can be modeled well by a ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Regression-based label fusion for multi-atlas segmentation [PDF]

open access: yesCVPR 2011, 2011
Automatic segmentation using multi-atlas label fusion has been widely applied in medical image analysis. To simplify the label fusion problem, most methods implicitly make a strong assumption that the segmentation errors produced by different atlases are uncorrelated.

Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Pharmacological inhibition of the PERK pathway modulates hepatocellular carcinoma growth and immune signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

Ultrasonography and the Reorientation of Developmental Hip Dysplasia Research: An NLP-NMF Trend Analysis (1980-2024)

open access: yesEurasian Journal of Medicine
Background: Graf’s introduction of hip ultrasonography (US) in the 1980s coincided with a major change in developmental hip dysplasia (DDH) screening and diagnostic practice, with a gradual reduction in reliance on examination- and radiograph-only ...

RoundMi: A quantitative method to analyze mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
RoundMi is a workflow for rapid analysis of mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells. By combining adaptive preprocessing with automated segmentation and quantification, it enables accurate measurements from single focal plane images, reducing acquisition time and computational demands while remaining compatible with high‐throughput fixed and live ...
