MITF maintains genome stability in nonmelanocyte lineages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MITF is essential for melanocyte survival and acts as an oncogene in 10%–20% of melanomas. We show that MITF depletion causes genome instability in nonmelanocytic cells, leading to LATS2‐mediated P53 activation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. This study highlights the role of MITF as a genome maintenance factor beyond the melanocyte lineage. Created

Análise dos aspectos demográficos e socioambientais para elaboração de um Índice de Segregação Espacial Urbana.

open access: yesConfins, 2019
Urban spatial segregation in developing countries is related to the social and economic differences of its population. This study presents an index of urban spatial segregation based on socioenvironmental and demographic data and performs statistical ...

Tumor B‐cell infiltration in platinum‐treated advanced muscle‐invasive urothelial carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Bladder tumors with higher pretreatment memory B‐cell infiltration were linked to longer survival after cisplatin chemotherapy, but not carboplatin. These tumors also showed more organized immune structures (tertiary lymphoid structures) and a shared pro‐inflammatory B‐cell‐rich community, suggesting that memory B cells may help identify patients most ...

Residential segregation of socioeconomic variables and health indices in Iran

open access: yesInternational Journal of Preventive Medicine, 2013
Background: Measures of segregation are essential tools for evaluation of social equality. They describe complex structural patterns by single quantities and allow the comparison of inequalities over time or between residential places. In many countries,

Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.

RoundMi: A quantitative method to analyze mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
RoundMi is a workflow for rapid analysis of mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells. By combining adaptive preprocessing with automated segmentation and quantification, it enables accurate measurements from single focal plane images, reducing acquisition time and computational demands while remaining compatible with high‐throughput fixed and live ...

Numerical Investigation on the Electroslag Remelting of High Carbon Martensitic Stainless Steels

open access: yesMetals, 2023
Control of solidification structure and segregation is crucial to improve the service performance of high carbon martensitic stainless steels. Design of the electroslag remelting (ESR) process based on the essential parameters of melting rate, filling ...

Occupational gender segregation: Index measureiient and econometric modeling [PDF]

open access: yesDemography, 1998
Abstract Empirical studies of gender segregation by occupation must be founded on rigorous measurement procedures. There appears to be a consensus that any index used in the analysis of time-series or international cross-section employment data must be either margin-free or decomposable to yield a margin-free component. On the other hand,

mutualinf: An R Package for Computing and Decomposing the Mutual Information Index of Segregation

open access: yesThe R Journal, 2023
In this article, we present the R package mutualinf for computing and decomposing the mutual information index of segregation by means of recursion and parallelization techniques. The mutual information index is the only multigroup index of segregation that satisfies strong decompos- ability properties, both for organizational units and groups.
