Thermodynamic Pathways of Nonequilibrium Solidification in Wire‐Arc Additive Manufacturing Fe‐Based Multicomponent Alloy Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Geometry‐driven thermal behavior in wire‐arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) influences microstructural evolution during nonequilibrium solidification of a chemically complex Fe–Cr–Nb–W–Mo–C nanocomposite system. By comparing different deposits configurations, distinct entropy–cooling rate correlations, segregation, and carbide evolution are revealed ...

Gender segregation by occupation in the public and the private sector : the case of Spain [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
In many countries, recruiting and promotion procedures in the public sector would appear to leave less room for gender discrimination than in the private sector.

CFD simulation for segregation behavior of a ternary mixture in a bubbling fluidized bed: effect of solid wall boundary condition [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Chemical Engineering, 2018
The effect of the solid–wall boundary condition on the segregation behavior of a sand ternary mixture differing in size but having the same proportion has been investigated in a gas–solid bubbling fluidized bed. A multi-fluid computational fluid dynamics

Combined Process‐ and Phase‐Field‐Simulation to Predict the Microstructure of Single‐Crystal Ni‐Based Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A combined finite element and phase‐field approach predicts the evolution of microstructure during the directional solidification of Ni‐based superalloys. The model reveals how withdrawal rate, temperature gradient, and wall thickness control the dendrite spacing, highlighting the strong effect of surface regions in thin sections where dendrite growth ...

Changes in Spatial Inequality and Residential Segregation in Metropolitan Lima

open access: yes, 2021
Since the 2000s, Lima city shows important changes in its socio-spatial structure, decreasing the long-established opposition between the centre and the periphery, developing a more complex arrangement.

Methods for Assessing Concrete Segregation Due to Compaction

open access: yesNordic Concrete Research
Segregation in concrete significantly affects its durability and structural integrity by introducing local variance in both the strength distribution and the modulus of elasticity within a structural element.

Ethnic Residential Segregation in the United Kingdom by Age Group: the Case of Bradford

open access: yesCosmopolitan Civil Societies: An Interdisciplinary Journal, 2009
There is a long running debate on the significance of ethnic residential segregation levels in Britain. These phenomena have been related to the extent of community cohesion in British cities, and particularly to the riots of 2001 in the north of England.

Low‐Angle Grain Boundaries and Re‐Segregation in Single‐Crystalline Ni‐Base Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that Re‐segregation at low‐angle grain boundaries (LAGBs) in Ni‐base superalloys is influenced by misorientation angle. Advanced microscopy and atom probe tomography reveal that higher misorientation angles increases Re‐segregation.
