Are there morpho‐acoustic patterns of adaptation in nonhuman primate ears? Testing the role of ecology and habitat in shaping ear morphology and function

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Analysis of the variation in the bony structures of the inner and middle ear provides critical insights into functional morphology, as well as adaptive morphology across primates. In this study, we investigated whether ear morphology patterns are related to the ecological characteristics of species and their habitats to test two acoustic ...

Glutamate-mediated blood-brain barrier opening. implications for neuroprotection and drug delivery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The blood-brain barrier is a highly selective anatomical and functional interface allowing a unique environment for neuro-glia networks. Blood-brain barrier dysfunction is common in most brain disorders and is associated with disease course and delayed ...

Optimal bounds of the arithmetic mean in terms of new Seiffert-like means [PDF]

open access: yesMathematical Inequalities & Applications, 2020
In this paper, optimal bounds for the arithmetic means in terms of the arithmetic, harmonic, quadratic, inverse quadratic and geometric combination of means generated by sine, tangent, hyperbolic sine and hyperbolic tangent functions are derived and proved using the concept of Seiffert functions.

Parental and Peer Relationships and Their Impact on Symptom Severity in Adolescent Patients With Anorexia Nervosa

open access: yesEuropean Eating Disorders Review, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Perceived parental relationship characteristics, such as maternal overprotection, rejection or neglect, and peer victimisation, are suggested to be more common in patients with anorexia nervosa (AN) than in healthy controls. This study compares parental and peer relationships in adolescent patients with AN to those in a clinical ...

Controlled cortical impact traumatic brain injury in 3xTg-AD mice causes acute intra-axonal amyloid-β accumulation and independently accelerates the development of tau abnormalities [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Alzheimer\u27s disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized pathologically by progressive neuronal loss, extracellular plaques containing the amyloid-β (Aβ) peptides, and neurofibrillary tangles composed of hyperphosphorylated tau proteins.

Are i‐Motif Structures in DNA Compatible with Cytosine–Ag(I)–Cytosine Base Pairs?

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Volume 65, Issue 2, 9 January 2026.
An i‐motif/duplex junction was evaluated with respect to its ability to replace the protons from the hemi‐protonated C:CH+ pairs by AgI ions to form C–AgI–C base pairs. Interestingly, only one such metal‐mediated base pair can be formed before the oligonucleotide rearranges into a duplex structure.

Neuropsychological evidence for three distinct motion mechanisms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Published in final edited form as: Neurosci Lett. 2011 May 16; 495(2): 102–106. doi:10.1016/j.neulet.2011.03.048.We describe psychophysical performance of two stroke patients with lesions in distinct cortical regions in the left hemisphere.

ARCADE 2 Observations of Galactic Radio Emission [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We use absolutely calibrated data from the ARCADE 2 flight in July 2006 to model Galactic emission at frequencies 3, 8, and 10 GHz. The spatial structure in the data is consistent with a superposition of free-free and synchrotron emission.

Pricing and Hedging of SOFR Derivatives

open access: yesMathematical Finance, Volume 36, Issue 1, Page 180-202, January 2026.
ABSTRACT The London Interbank Offered Rate (LIBOR) has served since the 1970s as a fundamental measure for floating term rates across multiple currencies and maturities. However, in 2017, the Financial Conduct Authority announced the discontinuation of LIBOR from the end of 2021, and the New York Fed declared the Treasury repo financing rate, called ...

Optimal bounds for two Sándor-type means in terms of power means

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2016
In the article, we prove that the double inequalities M α ( a , b ) < S Q A ( a , b ) < M β ( a , b ) $M_{\alpha }(a,b)< S_{QA}(a,b)< M_{\beta}(a,b)$ and M λ ( a , b ) < S A Q ( a , b ) < M μ ( a , b ) $M_{\lambda }(a,b)< S_{AQ}(a,b)< M_{\mu}(a,b)$ hold ...
