Weighted average seismic attributes
GEOPHYSICS, 2000Local weighted averaging of instantaneous seismic attributes improves their interpretability by removing spikes and reducing rapid and confusing variations. Averaging in a window weighted by the instantaneous power produces a local measure that equals a Fourier spectral average, facilitating quantitative analysis.

Gleaning meaningful information from seismic attributes
First Break, 2008Seismic attributes form an integral part of most of today’s interpretation projects. Attributes enhance subtle features in the seismic data that may otherwise be overlooked or require a great deal of time to map. The quality of attribute displays is directly proportional to the quality of the input seismic data.

Calibrating borehole seismic attributes with passive seismic data
SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2003, 2003In this paper we describe a number of fundamental seismic attributes that can be determined from passive seismic borehole recordings. Passive data can be used to determine not only direct images of reservoir fracturing, but also background borehole noise characteristics, velocity model details including lateral variations and anisotropic ...

Shaded relief seismic attribute
GEOPHYSICS, 2002Shaded relief is employed throughout geophysics to display digital data as illuminated apparent topography. Such displays facilitate geologic understanding because apparent topography often suggests true geology. First developed for elevation data (Batson et al., 1975), shaded relief has long been used with gravity and magnetic data (Paterson and ...

Improving Seismic Discontinuity Attributes
PGCE 2006, 2006Seismic discontinuity is the most important reflection pattern attribute. Discontinuity quantifies the degree to which a seismic trace differs from its neighbors, and identifies breaks in the continuity of seismic reflections that are due to faults, diapers, channels, stratigraphic pinchouts, processing artifacts, or noise.

Extraction of seismic attributes and their analysis help to reveal geologic information concealed in the data. This requires close interactions between the interpreter and the processor, familiar with attribute processing software packages and the associated techniques.

Derivation of Seismic Attributes from Shallow Seismic Data
61st EAGE Conference and Exhibition, 1999Conventional methods of shallow seismics are able to give reliable information about the subsurface structure with high resolution within a depth of a few hundred meters.

Reservoir Classification with Seismic Attributes
Proceedings, 1995We present a procedure to map seismically sensitive reservoir characteristics derived from horizons picked on 3-D seismic data. Starting with the estimation of a number of seismic attributes over a time window, whose centre or either side is located at the picked horizon, we select a set of independent and reservoir-sensitive attributes graphically or ...

Visualization Of Seismic Horizon Attributes
Offshore Technology Conference, 1994ABSTRACT Detailed interpretation of 3-D seismic data is typically performed by picking horizons and faults on orthogonal slices through a 3-D seismic volume. A generalized three-dimensional slice through the data in the shape of the interpreted horizon (horizon-slice) is then be used as a reference along which ...
