Real–Time Imaging of Decimetre–Resolution 3D Seismic Volumes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The 3D Chirp sub–bottom profiler acquires a true 3D seismic volume with decimetric horizontal and centimetric vertical resolutions, providing an ideal platform for shallow–water engineering, archaeology, military, and geological studies.

An optimizing microseismic method for rock burst early warning based on mining production process

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
A classification early warning method of rock burst based on hourly microseismic data is proposed, which can be combined with the on‐site production process to provide more timely warning. Abstract Microseismic (MS) events have been reported in nearly every coal mining country, which could well lead to rock burst in underground coal mines.

INDICATION OF META-ANTHRACITE BY MAGNETOTELLURICS IN THE KŐSZEG-RECHNITZ PENNINIC WINDOW : A TEST AREA

open access: yes, 2013
One of the Penninic Nappes is the Kőszeg-Rechnitz (K-R) tectonic window at the Eastern end of the Eastern Alps. It has a complicated metamorphic history from the Jurassic time.

Semi‐analytical solution for the stability of deep vertical shaft considering time‐dependent rock‐structure interaction

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
A novel cavity contraction solution and multilayer shaft wall model were developed to analyze deep shaft stability, considering rock viscosity, support structures, and water pressure, with successful validation through a Hulusu Coal Mine case study.

A matched-filter technique with an objective threshold

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
We propose an objective threshold determination method for detecting outliers from the empirical distribution of cross-correlation coefficients among seismic waveforms.

Denoising seismic noise cross correlations [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, 2009
Seismic noise cross correlations have become a novel way of probing the elastic structure of the Earth without relying on an often highly nonuniform and sporadic distribution of earthquakes. By circumventing this restriction, one can determine the elastic Green's function between any two points where instruments exist.

Numerical and experimental study on P‐wave propagation across a rock joint with different orientations

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
Joint orientation significantly affects P‐wave velocity, with the highest velocity at zero‐degree angles, decreasing to 30° as the angle increases. The velocity increases slightly from 30 to 45 degrees but sharply decreases from 45 to 90 degrees. Abstract Determination of the required parameters in different science contexts using the ultrasonic wave ...

Gaborlet‐guided sparse filtering: A novel intelligent method for lithology identification by vibration signals while drilling

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The flowchart illustrates rock specimen testing, vibration signal acquisition, and feature extraction with Gaborlet and sparse filtering for classification. Abstract Traditional lithology identification methods mainly rely on core sampling and well‐logging data.

An Investigation into the Effect of Near-Fault Ground Motion Duration Parameters on the Nonlinear Seismic Response of Intake Towers

open access: yesBuildings
Intake towers, essential for hydraulic hub projects, are integral to maintaining safety and efficiency, especially under seismic conditions that are prevalent near fault zones.

Coupling thermodynamic mineralogical models and mantle convection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In this thesis I advance the integration of mineral thermodynamics into convection modeling. I have compiled a thermodynamic model of mantle mineralogy in the five component CFMAS system (CaO-FeO-MgO-Al2O3-SiO2), including mineral phases that occur close
