Transformer and Convolutional Hybrid Neural Network for Seismic Impedance Inversion

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing
The inversion of elastic parameters especially P-wave impedance is an essential task in seismic exploration. Over the years, deep learning methods have made significant achievements in seismic impedance inversion, and convolutional neural networks (CNNs)

Seismic anisotropy in siliciclastic reservoir rocks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The interpretation of geophysical field measurements of seismic anisotropy is presently limited by our knowledge of the controls of the elastic anisotropy of sedimentary rocks in the subsurface. Traditionally, laboratory ultrasonic velocity measurements

Investigation on the failure evolution characteristics of surrounding rock in deep cross‐fault roadway: Based on physical model test and numerical simulation

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This study reveals the failure evolution characteristics of deep cross‐fault roadway surrounding rock under excavation support and periodic weighting. Periodic weighting readily induces fault activation, with the spatial distribution of failed rock masses being controlled by the fault strike and dip.

Multi-Scale Acoustic Velocity Inversion Based on a Convolutional Neural Network

open access: yesRemote Sensing
The full waveform inversion at this stage still has many problems in the recovery of deep background velocities. Velocity modeling based on end-to-end deep learning usually lacks a generalization capability.

seismic-py: Reading seismic data with Python

open access: yes, 2008
The field of seismic exploration of the Earth has changed dramatically over the last half a century. The Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) has worked to create standards to store the vast amounts of seismic data in a way that will be portable across computer architectures.

Towards using seismic anisotropy to interpret ductile deformation in mafic lower crust [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The lower crust forms an important geodynamic control in continental tectonics and the communication and coupling of kinematics between surface and deep-Earth processes.

Three-dimensional joint inversion of traveltime and gravity data across the Chicxulub impact crater

open access: yes, 2009
In 2005 an extensive new seismic refraction data set was acquired over the central part of the Chicxulub impact crater, allowing us to image its structure with much better resolution than before.

Climatic drivers prevail in montane and lowland Odonata latitudinal diversity gradients, but human modification erodes lowland patterns

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
Latitudinal diversity gradients (LDGs) arise from the interplay of historical, ecological, and evolutionary processes, yet these drivers may differ across landforms. Mountains, with steep elevational and climatic gradients, often sustain distinct diversity dynamics compared with adjacent lowlands, where vertical climatic gradients are weak and human ...
