ABSTRACT This article presents a capacity‐based assessment procedure for beam–column (b–c) joints of reinforced concrete frames with floor slabs and transverse beams. The procedure extends a previously proposed assessment methodology for determining the hierarchy of strengths and the sequence of events in symmetrically reinforced planar b–c joints.

Giant Submarine Landslide on the East Antarctic Margin During the Plio‐Pleistocene
A giant submarine landslide complex is reported on the George V margin of East Antarctic continental rise. Such landslides are imaged on seismic profiles that display evidence of basal glide planes and headwall scarps.

Nonlinear Response‐History Analyses of Masonry and Mixed Structures With HybriDFEM
ABSTRACT The hybrid discrete‐finite element (HybriDFEM) method, previously developed to perform static and modal analysis in discrete and coupled discrete‐finite element models, is extended to nonlinear response‐history analyses. The equations of motion for the HybriDFEM model are solved through various numerical time‐integration schemes, both explicit

Optimization Design of Horizontal Well Track Using Seismic Interpretation Data
In conventional track optimization methods, the minimum drilling footage (track length) is used as the core objective function to realize the fastest drilling with the lowest cost.It is hard to achieve the optimization goal without considering spatial ...

Three‐Dimensional Analytical Model of a Free‐Standing Square Rocking Column
ABSTRACT A three‐dimensional analytical two‐degree‐of‐freedom (2DOF) model is developed to describe the bounded rocking response of free‐standing rigid square columns subjected to bidirectional seismic excitation. The formulation extends Housner's classical planar theory by deriving the full three‐dimensional equations of motion for a column ...

Quantifying Model Selection Uncertainty in Structural Analysis: Methodology and Application
ABSTRACT With increasing focus on complex engineering systems under rare events, computational models are critical for predictions due to the scarcity or absence of data. However, selecting an appropriate model can be challenging. Using a single model without available test calibration could result in significant bias in performance predictions. A case
