Research progress and current status of dynamic wave propagation characteristics in rock mass: A review

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This review elucidates the velocity–dispersion–attenuation coupling mechanisms of wave propagation in rock masses, compares six representative models, and reveals how pressure, temperature, mineral composition, and anisotropy jointly control dynamic responses in complex geological media.

Seismic design committee

open access: yesBulletin of the New Zealand Society for Earthquake Engineering, 1978
The Management Committee of the New Zealand National Society for Earthquake Engineering have for some time planned the formation of a Seismic Design Committee.
It is the intention that this Committee would offer assistance to Local Authorities and to designers, for designs of structures and other developments in seismic engineering which border on ...

Influence of near-fault effects and of incident angle of earthquake waves on the seismic inelastic demands of a typical Jack-Up platform [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper, the potential influence of near-fault effects and of the incident angle of earthquake waves to the seismic response of a typical jack-up offshore platform is assessed by means of incremental dynamic analysis involving a three dimensional ...

Thermal‐induced fracture evolution and acoustic signature of Beishan granite: Insights into tensile strength of barrier system for high‐level radioactive waste disposal

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The tensile strength of granite, a proposed host for nuclear waste, degrades severely above 400°C. We link this to specific microcracking patterns captured by acoustic emission, establishing a scientific basis for assessing repository safety under thermal load.
