Seismic Response Analysis of Infrastructure

2016
Large scale simulation of structural seismic response is a key technology for the evaluation of seismic safety of a large infrastructure facility with complicated configuration. This is because highest spatial resolution is needed for such a structure, in order to examine the safety in detail.

Seismic Response Analysis of Pile Foundations

Geotechnical and Geological Engineering, 2010
A quasi-3D continuum method is presented for the dynamic nonlinear effective stress analysis of pile foundation under earthquake excitation. The method was validated using data from centrifuge tests on single piles and pile groups in liquefiable soils conducted at the University of California at Davis.

Seismic response analysis of long-span and asymmetrical suspension bridges subjected to near-fault ground motion

, 2020
The objective of this paper is to investigate the seismic responses of long-span and asymmetrical suspension bridges subjected to four intensity level (Small, moderate, huge, and super earthquakes) of near-fault ground motions.

The Uncertainty in the Local Seismic Response Analysis

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2008
In the present paper is shown the influence on the local seismic response analysis exerted by considering dispersion and uncertainty in the seismic input as well as in the dynamic properties of soils. In a first attempt a 1D numerical model is developed accounting for both the aleatory nature of the input motion and the stochastic variability of the ...

Convex-model analysis of the seismic response

Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, 1997
An ellipsoidal Fourier-bound convex model (EFB model) is proposed in the present paper to express the uncertainty of seismic excitation, and several methods of selecting parameters of the model are explained. An analytical expression is obtained for the worst response of the single-degree-of-freedom (SDOF) system with the EFB model.

Characterization of Soil Deposits for Seismic Response Analysis

2007
The paper critically reviews in situ and laboratory testing methods used to characterize soil deposits for seismic response analyses. Cyclic loading triaxial tests (CLTX), Cyclic loading torsional shear tests (CLTST) and Resonant column tests (RCT) are considered.

Seismic response analysis of the reef-seawater system under incident SV wave

Ocean Engineering, 2019
The seismic response analysis of a reef engineering site is the foundation for the seismic design of artificial islands and other upper constructions. This study proposes a two-dimensional seismic analysis model for the reef-seawater system, where the ...

Probability-based seismic response analysis

Engineering Structures, 2005
A procedure to account for the uncertainty in the characteristics of future ground motions during seismic response assessment is presented. In the proposed procedure, the probability of exceedance of structural response parameters conditioned to a given ground motion intensity is computed from a series of deterministic response history analyses at ...

PDEM-based stochastic seismic response analysis of sites with spatially variable soil properties

Soil Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering, 2019
The spatial variability of soil properties has a significant effect on the seismic responses of sites. Considering that the probability density evolution method (PDEM), an efficient probabilistic methodology, has not been used in the probabilistic ...
