What is seismic sedimentology? A tutorial

Interpretation, 2018
I have developed an alternative narrative of seismic sedimentology from a geologist’s perspective. Seismic sedimentology is a high-resolution supplement for traditional, low-resolution seismic stratigraphy, reflecting the fact that seismic responds to sedimentary bodies differently at low and high resolution.

Stratigraphic inversion integrating wells, seismic & sedimentology data

SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 1997, 1997
This paper introduces a new mathematical method for estimating geological facies within a reservoir while integrating a wide range of data associated to well logs and seismic attributes. This new method is based on the "Discrete Smooth Interpolation" method, abbreviated DSI, developed in the frame of the GOCAD project (See (Mallet, 1989; Mallet, 1992 ...

Isochronous seismic lithosomic body and sedimentological analysis

SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2014, 2014
Summary The prerequisite for using the seismic slices to carry out sedimentary research is to ensure its isochronism. However, because the sedimentation rates are different in different regions of continental basins, it is rather difficult to obtain isochronous seismic slices, especially from the gravity flow and deltaic environments.

Impact of 3D Seismic Technologies on Sedimentology Study

Advanced Materials Research, 2012
Progress of 3D seismic technologies has played a vital role in the developments of sedimentology in terms of analytical methodology and concepts. High-density and high-resolution 3D seismic data can be used to reconstruct 3D views of sedimentary paleo-evironment by direct imaging of depositional elements and can also be used to analyze sedimentary ...

Onshore high‐resolution seismic profiling applied to sedimentology

GEOPHYSICS, 1988
High‐resolution seismic profiling is a valuable method for the exploration of the shallow subsurface. Currently, a resolution of 0.5 m can be attained. This resolution is sufficient to recognize small sedimentary features (channels, dunes, linear ridges, etc.) and to reconstruct the environment of deposition, The surveys described in this paper were ...

Study and Application of Seismic Sedimentology in Paleogeomorphology Restoration

2021
In Ordos basin, dolomite reservoir of lower Paleozoic Ordovician has a good prospect for exploration. Pre-carboniferous karst landform had a great influence on gas accumulation and enrichment. And the high parts of paleogeomorphology are favorable places for gas.

Seismic Sedimentology of Changling Gas Field, Northeast China

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
Sedimentary facies plane features of Changling No.1 gas field is analyzed with multiattribute analysis. In Changling area, the signal to noise ratio of the seismic data is low and the sand body distribution in lateral lithologic reservoir changes fast. In this condition, research of seismic sedimentology is launched.
