Seismic Stratigraphy and Sedimentology of Mississippi Fan: ABSTRACT
AAPG Bulletin, 1985Eight seismic reflectors within the Pleistocene Mississippi fan, Gulf of Mexico, have sufficient areal extent to allow the construction of isopach and structure contour maps. These maps show that the fan was constructed by at least seven elongate fan lobes that moved slightly eastward and basinward with time.

3-D Seismic Coherency and the Imaging of Sedimentological Features
1996A coherency time slice at 1250 ms, corresponding to a Pleistocene surface at approximately 4000 ft. below sea level, from the South Marsh Island area of the Gulf of Mexico displays a complex system of channels which in part are similar to the channel system of the present Mississippi Delta.

The seismic sedimentology application research for continental Compresso‐Shear Basin Clastics
International Geophysical Conference, Shenzhen, China, November 7–10, 2011, 2011Depending on different seismic frequencies and reflection interface information of depositional body, the key technologies involved in Sedimentology had been introduced into clastic transpressional basins developing in Junggar in the ways of the macro (seismic geomorphology) and micro (seismic lithology) to design a data interpretation process in ...

Interpretation, 2018
In recent years, many important discoveries have been made in the marine deepwater hydrocarbon exploration in the South China Sea, which indicates the huge exploration potential of this area. However, the seismic prediction of deepwater reservoirs is very challenging because of the complex sedimentation, the ghost problem, and the low exploration ...

Marine and Petroleum Geology, 2018
Abstract Given the recent induced seismic activity in Alberta, identification of subsurface faults and areas of structural complexity has become increasingly important in improving our understanding of the controls on induced seismic events. Using a 3D geological model supplemented with 2D and 3D reflection seismic data, several basement-bounded and ...

Seismic sedimentology and regional depositional systems in Mioceno Norte, Lake Maracaibo, Venezuela
The Leading Edge, 2001Seismic sedimentology is the use of seismic data to study sedimentary rocks and the processes by which they form. It differs from classic seismic stratigraphy in that it uses mainly the horizontal, instead of the vertical, character of seismic data to provide high-resolution images of seismic attribute patterns that can be related to geomorphology and ...

Spatial Resolution of Stratal Slice and Its Implications to Seismic Sedimentology
Beijing 2014 International Geophysical Conference & Exposition, Beijing, China, 21-24 April 2014, 2014Application of seismic sedimentology in a case study demonstrated our ability to use a stratal slice to visually recognize a very thin depositional element far below seismic resolvable limit. This can be explained by spatial resolution, which is defined as a special resolution status in which an object is horizontally resolved but vertically detected ...
