Marine seismic sensor

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1986
A hydrophone streamer that includes several arrays of optical fiber pressure sensors. Each array consists of at least three sensors symmetrically disposed around the inside of the streamer skin to form a vertically-disposed array. Each sensor modulates a coherent light beam in accordance with the instantaneous ambient water pressure. The output signals

A fiber optic Bragg grating seismic sensor

SPIE Proceedings, 2007
Here we present a fiber optic seismic waves sensor based on in-fiber Bragg gratings. Fiber Bragg Grating sensors have been demonstrated to have very high sensitivity to dynamical strain in the sub-micro-strain range and very extended dynamical response from static to very high frequency. The seismic sensing system is based on the integration of three

On the use of a seismic sensor as a seismic source

GEOPHYSICS, 2013
We investigated the use of seismic sensors as small seismic sources. A voltage signal is applied to a geophone that forces the mass within the geophone to move. The movement of the mass generates a seismic wavefield that was recorded with an array of geophones operating in the conventional sense.

Experience in seismic signal recording using broadband electrochemical seismic sensors

Seismic Instruments, 2010
Development and application of broadband seismic sensors, namely velocimeters of electrochemical type (chemotrons), are considered. The principle of operation and design of modern electrochemical (molecular-electronic) converters of seismic signals for linear and rotary motions are described.

Permanent Downhole Seismic Sensors in Flowing Wells

65th EAGE Conference & Exhibition, 2003
It is generally accepted that the 'Oilfield of the Future' will incorporate distributed permanent downhole seismic sensors in flowing wells. However the effectiveness of these sensors will be limited by the extent to which seismic signals can be discriminated, or de-coupled, from flow induced acoustic noise originating within the production tubing.

Sensor technology for microhole seismic applications

SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 1995, 1995
Los Alamos engineering, laboratory and field studies are exploring the integration of drilling and instrumentation requirements for the most economic means for deployment of borehole seismic sensors. The minimum hole-diameter requirement for the installation of borehole seismic sensors and associated electronics, is compatible with holes of greatly ...

Imaging Seismic Tomography in Sensor Network

2013 IEEE International Conference on Distributed Computing in Sensor Systems, 2013
Tomography imaging, applied to seismology, requires a new, decentralized approach if high resolution calculations are to be performed in a sensor network configuration. The real-time data retrieval from a network of large-amount wireless seismic nodes to a central server is virtually impossible due to the sheer data amount and resource limitations.

A MEMS based electrochemical seismic sensor

2013 Transducers & Eurosensors XXVII: The 17th International Conference on Solid-State Sensors, Actuators and Microsystems (TRANSDUCERS & EUROSENSORS XXVII), 2013
This paper presents a micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS) based electrochemical seismic sensor where insulating spacers and sensing electrodes were contained in a plexiglass tube filled with an ion-rich electrolyte solution. Sensing electrodes and insulation spacers were fabricated based on MEMS processes and assembled by adhesive bonding in a layer-

A 5C Land Seismic Gradient Sensor

81st EAGE Conference and Exhibition 2019, 2019
Summary We developed, built, and field tested a five-component land seismic sensor whose data facilitates attenuation of spatially aliased ground roll. The sensor records the three components of particle motion and the two vertical gradients of the horizontal wavefields that, at the free surface, are equal to the horizontal gradients of the vertical ...
