Reflection seismic waveform tomography [PDF]
In seismic waveform tomography, if using reflection data with limited source‐receiver offsets, it is difficult to reconstruct the deep part of the subsurface velocity model. We present two approaches to tackle this problem: layer stripping and weighted updating.

Tomography of the Earth's Core Using Supernova Neutrinos [PDF]
We investigate the possibility to use the neutrinos coming from a future galactic supernova explosion to perform neutrino oscillation tomography of the Earth's core.

Based on experimental results and theoretical analysis, an established rock damage accumulation model that comprehensively considers the preapplied static load, impact peak value, impact frequency, and impact times. Abstract To study the rock damage mechanism under high static loading and superimposed medium strain rate cyclic impact loading, a series ...

Methodological advances in seismic noise imaging of the Alpine area
Methodological advances in seismic tomography are often driven by the quality of data sets. The dense and homogeneous spatial coverage of the AlpArray seismic network, including hundreds of permanent and temporary broadband stations, has motivated a ...

The elastic constants of MgSiO3 perovskite at pressures and temperatures of the Earth's mantle
The temperature anomalies in the Earth's mantle associated with thermal convection1 can be inferred from seismic tomography, provided that the elastic properties of mantle minerals are known as a function of temperature at mantle pressures.

Conditioning bounds for traveltime tomography in layered media [PDF]
This paper revisits the problem of recovering a smooth, isotropic, layered wave speed profile from surface traveltime information. While it is classic knowledge that the diving (refracted) rays classically determine the wave speed in a weakly well-posed ...
