Abstract Eastern North America has hosted significant historical earthquakes, where seismicity clusters along tectonically inherited structures. Using the spherical finite‐element code CitcomSVE and fully 3D viscosity structure, we model the intraplate stress response to glacial isostatic adjustment (GIA) using ICE‐6G, both with and without low ...

Abstract Rocks at various lithospheric depths commonly display a fabric, resulting in mechanical anisotropy. The mechanical response of such anisotropic rocks depends on both the intensity of the anisotropy and the orientation of the fabric relative to the applied stress.

Abstract Seismic anisotropy is observed in the lowermost few hundred kilometers of the mantle. This anisotropy likely signifies strong deformation, possibly caused by mantle flow interacting with the edges of Large Low‐Shear‐Velocity Provinces (LLSVPs) or by the ascent of mantle plumes originating near these regions.

Probing the Nature of Low‐Frequency Earthquakes Through the Deconvolution of Tectonic Tremor
Abstract We resolve the low‐frequency earthquake (LFE) activity within tremor from a compact area beneath southern Vancouver Island. Using LFE templates made from stacking thousands of nearly co‐located LFEs as empirical Green's functions, we detect LFEs using time‐domain iterative deconvolution of the “optimal” horizontal component (the dominant ...

Abstract Low‐angle normal faults are a mechanical anomaly, hosting normal‐sense slip despite having a dip shallower than 30°, in contravention of Andersonian prediction. Slip on such faults has been attributed to overpressurized fluids or low‐friction minerals. An example of such a fault is the Altotiberina Fault (ATF) in central Italy. The ATF hanging
