Note on selection principles of Kočinac

open access: yesFilomat, 2012
This paper investigates αdi, i ∈ {2, 3, 4}, selection principles (which are modification of known selection principles of Kočinac) on a double sequence of double sequences of real numbers which converge to a point a ∈ ℝ in Pringsheim's sense.

Selection principles for Gaia [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Theoretical Biology, 2022
The Gaia hypothesis considers the life-environment coupled system as a single entity that acts to regulate and maintain habitable conditions on Earth. In this paper we discuss three mechanisms which could potentially lead to Gaia: Selection by Survival, Sequential Selection and Entropic Hierarchy.

Finiteness Principles for Smooth Selection [PDF]

open access: yesGeometric and Functional Analysis, 2016
In this paper we prove finiteness principles for $C^{m}\left( \mathbb{R}^{n}, \mathbb{R}^{D}\right) $-selection, and for $C^{m-1,1}\left( \mathbb{R}^{n}, \mathbb{R}^{D}\right) $-selection, in particular providing a proof for a conjecture of Brudyni-Shvartsman (1994) on Lipschitz selections for the case when the domain is $X = \mathbb{R}^n$.

Selection Theorems and the Reduction Principle [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the American Mathematical Society, 1975
In this paper we attempt a unification of several selection theorems in the literature. It is proved that the existence of “nice” selectors in a certain class of selection problems is essentially equivalent to the fact that certain families of sets satisfy a weak version of Kuratowski’s reduction principle. Various special cases are discussed.

SELECTION OF AN APPROPRIATE PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT USING THE ANALYTIC HIERARCHY PROCESS

open access: yesEskişehir Osmangazi Üniversitesi Mühendislik ve Mimarlık Fakültesi Dergisi, 2022
The main principles of safety risk reduction are elimination, substitution, and engineering controls. Hazardous conditions, safe work practices, and other forms of managerial controls should be provided for a safe work environment.

Bidirectional branch and bound for controlled variable selection. Part II: exact local method for self-optimizing control [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The selection of controlled variables (CVs) from available measurements through enumeration of all possible alternatives is computationally forbidding for large-dimensional problems. In Part I of this work [Cao, Y., & Kariwala, V.

Principles of confounder selection [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Epidemiology, 2019
AbstractSelecting an appropriate set of confounders for which to control is critical for reliable causal inference. Recent theoretical and methodological developments have helped clarify a number of principles of confounder selection. When complete knowledge of a causal diagram relating all covariates to each other is available, graphical rules can be ...

The Handicap Principle in Sexual Selection [PDF]

open access: yesEvolution, 1978
The theory of the selection of epigamic color, structure and behavior was originally due to Darwin (1874) and was later elaborated by Fisher (1930) and by O'Donald (1962, 1963, 1967). It is well known and is discussed below. An alternative account of this type of sexual selection has been suggested recently by Zahavi (1975).
