Porosity of Additive Manufacturing Products Obtained by Selective Electron Beam Melting

open access: yesElektronnaya Obrabotka Materialov
The paper presents some investigation results of the material porosity of the samples made using the techno-logy of selective electron beam melting from the Ti-6Al-4V alloy powder. The influence of hatching mode parameters on the porosity of samples was carried out using optical microscopy and X-ray computed tomography.

Dual-detector electronic monitoring of electron beam selective melting

Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2021
Abstract Electron Beam Selective Melting (EBSM) is an advanced additive manufacturing technique used in many vital industrial fields. However, the lack of process monitoring and quality control is largely restricting the industrial application. The optical-based monitoring methods are hindered by the complex working conditions, such as intensive ...

Melt pool dynamics during selective electron beam melting

Applied Physics A, 2013
Electron beam melting is a promising additive manufacturing technique for metal parts. Nevertheless, the process is still poorly understood making further investigations indispensable to allow a prediction of the part’s quality. To improve the understanding of the process especially the beam powder interaction, process observation at the relevant time ...

Microgeometry of the surface of electron beam additive manufacturing products. Selective electron beam melting

Strengthening Technologies and Coatings, 2021
The results of the analysis of works related to the formation of surface microgeometry in the process of selective electron-beam melting are presented, and the physical model of this process is refined. The developing additive technology of selective electron-beam alloying and the directions in which its research is carried out, in particular, the ...

Auxetic cellular structures through selective electron-beam melting

physica status solidi (b), 2010
This paper is concerned with the build up and characterization of well-defined auxetic structures (negative Poisson ratio) from Ti-6A1-4V through selective electron-beam melting (SEBM). SEBM is a rapid prototyping/manufacturing technique allowing for the direct translation of CAD models to real world objects.

Diverse microstructure of Ti6.5Al2Zr1Mo1V fabricated via electron beam selective melting

Materials Letters, 2021
Abstract Ti6.5Al2Zr1Mo1V was fabricated via electron beam selective melting (EBSM) with different process parameters to study the diversity of microstructure. Results demonstrate that samples with a flat surface can be obtained when the ratio of beam current to scanning speed fluctuated between 5.0 and 7.5 as other parameters were fixed.
