Research on image monitoring method of electron beam selection melting

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2019
Abstract In order to overcome the problem that the lack of real-time detection technology and the existing detection methods cannot select the process area flexibly in the process of electron beam selective melting, this paper presents a digital electronic imaging method which can monitor the roughness and tiny flaws on the surface of ...

Analysis on Defocusing and Astigmatism of Electron Beam Selective Melting Machines

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2020
Abstract Affected by defocusing and astigmatism, the quality of electron beam steadily deteriorated with increasing deflection distance, limiting the processing area of SEBM machines. The relationship among beam spot size, deflection distance and deflection direction are studied by numerical simulation, which explains the cause of ...

Investigation of Laser Ablation and Brush Pre‐Treatments for AlCu Cold Roll Bonding in Oxygen‐Free Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...

InP nanocrystals on silicon for optoelectronic applications

open access: yes, 2012
One of the solutions enabling performance progress, which can overcome the downsizing limit in silicon technology, is the integration of different functional optoelectronic devices within a single chip. Silicon with its indirect band gap has poor optical

Laser diode area melting for high speed additive manufacturing of metallic components [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Additive manufacturing processes have been developed to a stage where they can now be routinely used to manufacture net-shape high-value components. Selective Laser Melting (SLM) comprises of either a single or multiple deflected high energy fibre laser ...

EBSD Study of Creep‐Induced Lattice Misorientation in MgO‐Particle‐Reinforced Austenitic Steel Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.
