Highly Potent Fluorogenic Ligands for Triplex DNA: 5‐Substituted 2‐(Naphthalen‐2‐yl)‐4H‐Chromen‐4‐Ones

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
5‐Substituted 2‐(naphthalen‐2‐yl)‐4H‐chromen‐4‐ones are reported as a novel class of highly potent and selective triplex DNA ligands. These ligands induce triplex formation at submicromolar concentrations and inhibit enzymatic activity via ligand‐mediated triplex formation.

Construction of a flocculent saccharomyces cerevisiae fermenting lactose [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
A flocculent Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain with the ability to express both the LAC4 (coding for b-galactosidase) and LAC12 (coding for lactose permease) genes of Kluyveromyces marxianus was constructed.

Preparation of Porous MOF‐Polymer Composites via High Internal Phase Pickering Emulsions for Dye Adsorption Applications

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
A versatile method was developed to fabricate hierarchically porous monoliths using UiO‐66/TOCNC composites as Pickering emulsion stabilizers. The resulting polyHIPEs, produced under mild and scalable conditions, showed confirmed structural integrity through TGA, XRD, SEM, BET, and FT‐IR.

Waste activated sludge high‐rate treatment of septage: Biodegradability studies and contact phase trials towards a cleaner environment

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract The waste activated sludge high‐rate (WASHR) process, developed in our previous study, is used for septic wastewater treatment. This high‐rate contact stabilization pre‐treatment uses typical waste streams found in wastewater treatment plants to reduce a portion of the loadings on the main treatment trains.

Review of MOFs and their applications in the preparation of loose nanofiltration membranes for dye and salt fractionation

open access: yesDesalination and Water Treatment
The improper disposal of unused dyes by various industries is a significant contributor to water pollution. Thus, it is very important to remove the dyes from water.

Nanostructured materials with highly dispersed Au–Ce0.5Zr0.5O2 nanodomains: A route to temperature stable Au catalysts? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Our strategy to inhibit Au(0) growth with temperature involves the preparation of ultrafine Au clusters that are highly dispersed and strongly interacting with a thermally stable high-surface-area substrate.

Characterization of a two‐phase hybrid flotation column

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract This study explored the performance of a novel hybrid flotation column, which combines the advantages of a mechanically agitated cell with a flotation column and compared the results with a conventional flotation column setup. The experiments were performed in an air/water two‐phase system under varying airflow rates, frother concentrations ...

Selective flocculation of tribasic calcium phosphate from mixtures with quartz using polyacrylic acid flocculant

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mineral Processing, 1991
Abstract Selective flocculation of tribasic calcium phosphate (TCP), a model system for apatite, from mixtures with quartz using polyacrylic acid (PAA) was studied as a function of molecular weight of the polymer and suspension pH. A feed (1 : 1 synthetic mixture) assaying 21% P 2 O 5 was upgraded to 32% P 2 O 5 at recovery levels of 75–80 ...

Synthesizing polyethersulphone membranes with hybrid iron/nickel nanoparticles for dyes removal: An efficient biogenesis approach

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract Industrial wastewater contamination by azo dyes poses a significant environmental challenge. This study reports the green synthesis of bimetallic iron/nickel (Fe/Ni) nanoparticles using moringa leaf extract, which acted as both a reducing and capping agent, and their incorporation into polyethersulphone (PES) membranes to produce eco‐friendly ...
