Geometric Nonlinear Analysis of Self-Anchored Cable-Stayed Suspension Bridges [PDF]

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2013
Geometric nonlinearity of self-anchored cable-stayed suspension bridges is studied in this paper. The repercussion of shrinkage and creep of concrete, rise-to-span ratio, and girder camber on the system is discussed.

A numerical study on the structural integrity of self-anchored cable-stayed suspension bridges [PDF]

open access: yesFracture and Structural Integrity, 2016
A generalized numerical model for predicting the structural integrity of self-anchored cable-stayed suspension bridges considering both geometric and material nonlinearities is proposed.

Design and performance assessment of a novel self-anchored pedestrian suspension bridge

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials, 2022
Conventional suspension bridge systems generally adopt a symmetrical layout, which has limited applicability in asymmetric urban terrain. However, the span capacity of the asymmetric bridge system is not as good as that of the conventional suspension ...

The Basic Differential Equations of Self‐Anchored Cable‐Stayed Suspension Bridge [PDF]

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, 2010
The static behavior of self‐anchored cable‐stayed suspension bridge under vertical load is described with the continuum method. Based on the partition generalized variation principle, considering the compression‐bending coupling effect of the main girder and the tower, the large displacement incomplete generalized potential energy functional of three ...

Experiment on the Behavior of a Self-Anchored Suspension and Cable-Stayed Hybrid Bridge during Structural Transformation

open access: yesKSCE Journal of Civil Engineering, 2020
The Longgang Bridge in Shaanxi, China, is a complex continuous hybrid structure composed of two cable-stayed self-anchored suspension parts and one single-pylon cable-stayed part. A 1:20-scaled model was established due to the effect of multiple structural transformation, frequent internal force changes during the construction process, and differences ...

Displacement-based Mode Pushover Analysis of Self-anchored Cable-stayed Suspension Bridge

open access: yesDEStech Transactions on Engineering and Technology Research, 2017
As being a typical multi-freedom degree system structure, self-anchored cablestayed suspension bridge is significantly affected by higher modes in the earthquake response. Traditional force-based pushover analysis of reverse triangle or uniform distribution patterns will lead* to a certain error for the results of pushover analysis of self-anchored ...

Targeted Muscle Reinnervation for Intuitive Prosthetic Control

open access: yesMuscle &Nerve, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The convergence of medical and technological advances has led to a substantial expansion of therapeutic approaches for patients with limb amputations. Targeted muscle reinnervation (TMR) is one of the strategies to improve control of bionic arms and has been applied for more than two decades. Through surgical rewiring of the nerves responsible

From Flybys to Sample Return: A Review of Space Probes and Robotic Sampling Technologies for Small Bodies

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As a crucial puzzle piece of deep space exploration, exploring small bodies can provide significant scientific insights and valuable mineral resources. Unlike missions to the Moon and Mars, small‐body missions pose distinct technical challenges, including communication delays, weak gravity, and uncertain environments. This paper reviews a full

Nonthermal plasma approaches for combating implant‐associated infections: A compendious review

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Implant‐associated infections pose serious clinical challenges. Non‐thermal plasma (NTP) modifications overcome this bottleneck in distinct ways relative to traditional sterilization methods. Gas‐phase plasmas generate highly energetic species, UV radiation and reactive oxygen/nitrogen species (RONS), which alter the implant surface properties.

The Vicissitudes of the Nafs: Madness, Paralysis, and the Work of Transgression in Sufi Ethics

open access: yesAnthropology of Consciousness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT How should we theorize Sufi ethics when the practice of zikr (remembrance) that leads to spiritual enlightenment (tazkiyya) might also bring one to the brink of majzubiyat (madness)? What forms of regulation or restraint are imagined or enacted by practitioners to prevent spiritual boundlessness from perverting into its underside of paralysis (
