Analysis of Photovoltaic Self-Consumption Systems [PDF]

open access: yesEnergies, 2016
Components and installation prices could make the self-consumption of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems competitive. In this paper, we explore different self-consumption options, off-grid PV systems (with back-up generator and/or batteries), and grid ...

Assessment of Ochratoxin A Exposure in Ornamental and Self-Consumption Backyard Chickens. [PDF]

open access: yesVet Sci, 2020
Ochratoxin A (OTA) is a mycotoxin that may be present in various food and feed of plant and animal origin, including chicken meat. In Italy, backyard poultry farming is rather widespread. Animals are raised for meat, eggs and for ornamental purpose, and they are often fed with home-made diets not subject to official controls.

Self-consumption: the interplay of autophagy and apoptosis [PDF]

open access: yesNature Reviews Molecular Cell Biology, 2014
Autophagy and apoptosis control the turnover of organelles and proteins within cells, and of cells within organisms, respectively, and many stress pathways sequentially elicit autophagy, and apoptosis within the same cell. Generally autophagy blocks the induction of apoptosis, and apoptosis-associated caspase activation shuts off the autophagic process.

Applying Solar PV to Heat Pump and Storage Technologies in Australian Houses

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
Innovative mechanical services coupled with renewable energy systems are crucial for achieving a net zero energy goal for houses. Conventional systems tend to be vastly oversized because they lack the means to buffer energy flows and are based on peak ...

Increasing photovoltaic self-consumption with game theory and blockchain [PDF]

open access: yesEAI Endorsed Transactions on Energy Web, 2021
INTRODUCTION: This paper presents a distributed approach to optimise self-consumption on a local energy community containing photovoltaic generators, electric vehicles, loads and a storage system. OBJECTIVES: The goal is to maximise energy sharing between users while preserving the indivual objectives of each user.

An Experimental Study of Power Smoothing Methods to Reduce Renewable Sources Fluctuations Using Supercapacitors and Lithium-Ion Batteries

open access: yesBatteries, 2022
The random nature of renewable sources causes power fluctuations affecting the stability in the utility grid. This problem has motivated the development of new power smoothing techniques using supercapacitors and batteries.
