Combined Stochastic Optimization of Frequency Control and Self-Consumption With a Battery [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Smart Grid, 2019
Optimally combining frequency control with self-consumption can increase revenues from battery storage systems installed behind-the-meter. This work presents an optimized control strategy that allows a battery to be used simultaneously for self-consumption and primary frequency control.

Evaluation of Load Matching Indicators in Residential PV Systems-the Case of Cyprus

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
Three load matching indicators (self-consumption rate, self-sufficiency rate, loss of load probability) and the CO2 emissions were evaluated for 55 Cypriot households with 3 kWp rooftop photovoltaic (PV) generators.

Fair Energy Allocation for Collective Self-consumption

open access: yes
This study explores a collective self-consumption community with several houses, a shared distributed energy resource (DER), and a common energy storage system, as a battery. Each house has an energy demand over a discrete planning horizon, met by using the DER, the battery, or purchasing electricity from the main power grid.

Demand aggregation for photovoltaic self-consumption

open access: yesEnergy Reports, 2019
The mismatch between photovoltaic generation and residential load leads to relative modest rates of self-consumption of solar electricity unless expensive storage solutions are locally available. One alternative to batteries is the aggregation of demand of different prosumers, as the collective load diagram might be better adapted to the solar resource.
